@menx -> I wouldn't mind being spammed with that at all.

Speaking of which, you havent accept my 3ds code yet... (;_・)

OT: After re-playing FFIII & FFIV remakes on the 3ds, I was talking to a friend of mine about SE making a new remake but for home consoles this time. While we both agreed that that'd be a dream come true, we also agreed that technically speaking those games were huge, and a good remake probably could be a massive project. If given the chance, I would really hope they look like the CGI sequences at the begining of those games.

I never payed FFI to VI as didnt get into gaming until the PSone, and VII was my first.

I loved FFVIII for its story and everything, it was just let down by one of the worst combat systems to date with the 'draw' mechanic

I loved all from VII onwards (not played XII either) in order it would probably go like this...

FFX

FFVIII

FFVII

FFIX

FFXIII

FFX-2

FFXIII-2

The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.

keeping in mind how old they are these 3 games have to considered as true art, especially in terms of storytelling and game-depth. the graphics look ugly now and the sound seems terrible, but, as mentioned above, the great opening scene in VI should appeal to any gamer.

perhaps i'm just too old :)

IX was by far my favorite. The memories......

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Final Fantasy VI is my favorite for many reasons:

1 - no central main character, almost ALL of them are deep and well developed.
2 - LOTS of different characters with distinct play styles, equipment loadouts, weapons, skills, etc
3 - Best villain in a game, ever
4 - LOADS of sidequests. in fact the entire second half of the game is nonlinear and optional
5 - Fantastic story with loads of twists and turns, reveals, and shifting allegiences.
6 - Maybe the best score in a FF game...but it's got some persistently good competition from many others

I just think it's so fresh compared to the others, with less linearity, optional characters/events, and oh my god Kefka is such a memorable villain. who cares if he's loosely based off The Joker, it's fantastic, maniacal, and successful! there were so many little nuances and quirks to the game (like killing doomtrain with a phoenix down) as well as high concepts like going into Cyan's mind to confront and defeat his demons. To this day I haven't unlocked everything or figured everything out.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

^ This.  I always described Kefka as a mix of Starscream from Transformers and the Joker, except, you know, a sorcerer.  He's also more successful then most villians, and has the best laugh ever.  The best part of that game is that the character you start the game as doesn't have to be recruited at the end of the game, that's how little of a main character there is.

yes, kefka was such a good villain :) but i cannot decide who "wins" for me - kefka or sephiroth.

but yes, VI was just perfect. there is not a simple thing that i dislike at VI. i would love to play it again with modern graphics and sound when  both can keep up the style and atmosphere from the original.

@menx, I lent my 3DS to a buddy, when I get it back you'll be the first I add, promise!

Our Final Fantasy

You two get a room. But yeah the bane sword was awesome.

What was your prefered way to play through the Original FF? I couldn't imagine going through the game without at least one White mage. Was anyone crazy enough to try to beat the game with 4 white mages?

hehe

Well, I always play it the traditional way, so Fighter Thief or Ninja BW WM, but my bro was crazy enough to play 4 black mages. I don't think he was ever able to beat it but he came pretty close. He also managed to kill Cecil Dark knight in FFIV hAHA and I even watched him grind and  level upping! Now that's a dedicated brother :D
