...100x might be too small a number. that looked amazing.

so who is behind this? I thought MS had bought up all the patents around this tech.

seems like it is an new company with some investors:

http://www.leapmotion.com/investors.html

yeah, i was looking at that but I still having seen anything directly explaining how it works from a techinical perspective.  makes me curious how they are actually getting this data in a way that MS won't come down and put them out of business.

no clue but they say they have a patent for that:

What is Leap Motion technology?

Leap Motion technology is a breakthrough in computer interaction, using a patented mathematical approach to 3D, touch-free motion sensing and motion control software that’s unlike anything that currently exists on the market or in academia. Developed over the past 4 years, Leap Motion moves far beyond the current technologies designed for distant arm waving.

trolololol.

This looks amazing, hopefully next Xbox have similar tech instead of Kinect like.

While it certainly seems very similar to Kinect, the uses are quite different.

The space that this device covers is only 50x50x50cm big, but within this space the device is extremely precise: it can measure movements as little as 1/100th millimeter.
So this device will be fantastic as an alternative, super-precise input device for computers, where it's sitting directly in front of the screen and monitors your hands.

Kinect on the other hand is extremely unprecise - but it covers a huge space, which is necessary for full-body tracking. For precise short-distance measurements on the other hand Kinect sucks.

So in practice, Kinect and this device are not really competitors. The next Kinect sensor shipping with the next Xbox will not use this technology, because the next Kinect sensor will have to be capable of full-body-tracking as well.

you can bet that MS has enough patents to either kill it right away or make money with it.

Of course MS has enough partners, development kids out already that this won't be any competition at all.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I think it detects disturbances in the near electromagnetic field. At first I thought it sends microwaves but there had to be receiver.

it shows how great he technology is improving over the years which is good for every gamer who wants to play games with gestures. they even say the work together with many partners of the consumer electronic branch and they expect to use their technology for phones, laptops AND gaming systems. and they have a patent on their own so who exactly says that microsoft has the patents they need? there is not even a camera in this thing nor an infrarot sensor. it seems to have a totally different technology, the only thing which is the same is that you can use gestures to change something on a screen. but since you are posting i maybe shouldn't wonder (you know what i mean if it comes to microsoft)

it's like you would say microsoft has to pay money to sony for kinect because of eyetoy where you can use gestures to change something on a screen as well.

maybe if the thing wouldn't cost only $70 bucks, it could do it? the small thing doesn't have much power with more power maybe it would be possible to get a much bigger space to use for gestures. or a combination of this with camera and sensor. you could use it for dancing games and so on then and if developers want to make a game for precise gestures, you could put it on the table in front of your couch.

how did he move forward with that HL Lost Coast part?

Character movement is controlled with the penis.
