maybe if the thing wouldn't cost only $70 bucks, it could do it? the small thing doesn't have much power with more power maybe it would be possible to get a much bigger space to use for gestures. or a combination of this with camera and sensor. you could use it for dancing games and so on then and if developers want to make a game for precise gestures, you could put it on the table in front of your couch.
