I think Mario Kart is maybe the only game I'd rather see so unbalanced. It's the one game where it's easy to get any 4 friends to play, but it's more fun when the less experienced players have just as good of a chance to win as the more talented players. I love seeing casual players jumping for joy after beating a great player in a match!

Then you might as well play dice.

I don't mind certain portions of luck being involved (otherwise you might as well play Guitar Hero...), but in the latest Mario Kart it was just too much and messed up the whole experience.

I wouldn't say the same about Mario Kart Wii though, which is why I disagree with the OP.

This is a  little to the extreme.  The best player in general wins most game of MK7, with most of my online matches with several people having the wins go to 2 or 3 people with a few outliers.  I find most of these criticisms to be "I think I am the best so I expect to win EVERY TIME!!!!"

While that is a funny thought, it actually goes something like: "OH MY GOD ONCE AGAIN SOMEONE WON BECAUSE I GOT HIT BY A BLUE SHELL RIGHT BEFORE THE FINISH LINE AFTER LEADING THE ENTIRE RACE!".

I do win the great majority of my races, but at the same time the great majority of my losses consist of unjustified bullshit.

This.  I will agree that it is frustrating to lose by getting hit by a blue shell seconds before the finish line.  But it lets people win who may have little to no chance to win otherwise, which I am fine with.

In single player mode, however, that nonsense needs to be fixed, as no one benefits from it.  It just artifically makes the game more "difficult"  Getting 3 stars in every cup was an exercise in frustration, and when you finally do it, there isn't a feeling of accomplishment, just a feeling of "great, I didn't get boned that race"

I loved Kart wii, they just need to get rid of those ridiculous bikes. A beginner playing on automatic bike will be consistently half a lap or so ahead of a bunch of experts playing properly on karts.

All we need for the next one is lots more tracks, no bikes, full on headset chat, lots of dlc and dont change the formula too much - it doesn't need changing.

That is all.

Too much planning, and you'll never get anything done.

Karl Pilkington.

Balance and Mario Kart do not go together. It is specifically designed so that bad players can still win. I've led an entire race before being displaced at the last minute by a blue shell on the last lap. I've done absolutely horrible and gone from eighth to first on the last lap with some lucky item pickups. Get rid of most of the items (and most importantly that damn blue shell!) and you can have a balanced game. I'm very surprised they still haven't implemented a system like in SSB where you can choose which items are included in a match.

I will say, though, that I have dodged a blue shell once. I had mushroom in first place and I wanted to use it before the blue shell hit me and I guess I used it at just the right moment that I got out of the blast zone when it went off. It was glorious!

I don't think catering for the casuals is the way to go, one blue shell can ruin your race then you get bashed all over by the passing karts to add to the insult, bikes need to go and maybe blue shells should be limited or hard to get per race or even just remove blue shells altogether, i think blue shells and bikes are the main thing that ruins the races

That's because Mario Kart is basically Affirmative Action in videogame form, lol.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Mario Kart 7 isn't perfect, but some of its ideas should be borrowed for Mario Kart 8. Communities are a great idea, reducing the number of racers to 8 prevents as much chaos, very powerful items should be less frequent, etc. Also, a Mission Mode ala DS would be cool.

I have every mario kart made and I have to say that the handhelds have been better games. they seem to stick to just racing. I am not a fan of double dash, and mk wii was very frustrating.
