Forums - Microsoft - Update: Halo Truck Leads Forza Horizon December IGN Car Pack

After Halo 4's SUPERB boxart, this one is a disappointment.

However, an open world Forza does sound appealing

If It's anything like TDU then I will break my budget and get this game close to launch. I love TDU despite the ugly graphics and clunky controls. Hell, I even bought TDU2 at release despite all the problems.

TDU was a graphical masterpiece when it came out.

How are they working on this? Did they split into two teams like ND and SSM?

No! According to wiki, this is not actually done by Turn 10, but some other studio, which was formed by ex-Bizzare employees, so I am not sure whether to expect arcade or sim?

Wow, I've actually just looked that up on Wiki too.  Got me kinda excited, I love PGR - if this turns out to be in that style, might be the push I need to go back to buying an Xbox.

Was a real shame what happened with Bizzare =/

Well if all the devs have got new jobs here, then I think it is okay

That's true.  I was really surprised that Microsoft didn't buy the company when Activision was looking to sell them - between Geometry Wars & Project Gotham they'd been a big part of the Xbox's life.

I guess maybe they were waiting for something like this to happen - disband and then form a new company, sign them on an exclusivity deal.

Well M$ do odd things, they closed down Ensemble then signed Robot Entertainment, a company formed by ex-Ensemble devs, to handle AOE Online and Halo Wars DLC

They probably didn't want a 2nd racing dev team given how slim their internal studios seem to be

The thing I dont get is why use the FORZA name, when they have a great IP series like PGR also?

all Ms is doing is milking the Forza name and possibly alienating the same fans which buys it with another one!

Ach, doesn't help that the new Viper is ugly as sin.

Still, I'm super interested in an open world sim, let's see if they pull it off.

Agreed the prototype looked a lot better the actual model doesn't look that much different from the old models.

Different team working on Forza Horizon.  Turn 10 is only the supporting studio since I'm sure they already started to work on Forza 5 and the still do updates (DLC) for Forza 4.

Game looks good, but that cover is awful. The yellow and green clash so horribly.

PGR was a great series but the two games that sold the best PGR 2&4 did most of their sales because they where included in X-Box live starter packs.  At this point Forza is a much stronger IP even though a lot of Forza's sales came due to hardware bundles.  If they include motorcyles down the road in Forza Horizon then it pretty much is the spirtual successor to PGR4.

Yeah if those physics and models remain intact then I'll be into this for sure.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/338378/forza-horizon-is-official-dirt-pgr-splitsecond-devs-onboard/

"Horizon is being developed by UK upstart Playground Games, formed in 2009 by ex-Codemasters execs Trevor Williams and Nick Wheelwright and staffed with veterans from Black Rock, Bizarre Creations and Slightly Mad."

So some good talent I'd say, along with the Turn10 tech I can't see how this can go wrong.
