I can see it happening. Heck, it happened with me already. And anyway, it hardly matters if the PS3 gets those crowds; they make up decidedly less than the market majority. MGS? The strongest entry in the series sold about 6 million at best; all of 5% of PS2 owners got MGS3. FF? The best-selling one was sub-10mil way back on the PS1, and the numbers have been steadily declining since; the most popular on PS2 was FFX at just under 8 million (about 6.6% of PS2 owners, in other words). GTA? Almost 16 million sales on PS2 for its most popular incarnation, but that's not even 20% of the people who bought a PS2 that got that game as well (more like 13.3%).

These games sell well enough, and can be termed system sellers in the sense that they will draw fans of their respective series, but that doesn't account for the massive numbers of other systems sold that went to people who never bought those games.

Whoa. I'm not sure how some of you people think this has anything to do with the PS3, since those are the exact same arguments people are throwing at the Wii.

Low supply! Shitty hardware! No games! No online! Overpriced!

Heck, I bet you could get a bingo out of with if you tried.

Actually, I think I can spot the PS3 there after all. The Gamecube is supposedly very powerful, has some of the biggest franchises ever, and a powerful advertising machine behind it. Yup, I think we have a match here.

well its hard to have a high attach rate with so many systems sold,and you think 15% to 115 million users isnt alot,though you should check what it did when it launched it helped ps2 alot that holiday,then ofcourse its sequel killed some of its sales

 It didn't help PS2 that much, PS2 was already the winner, it would have kept on selling without it, all it did was create a temporary spike

 

and 15 % means its only a title for the hardcore mostly, it won't make the PS3 gain on the Wii

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN GT sales?

That game ALONE made 15% of PS2 userbase.
ONE game 15%.

GT5 will be better in ALL aspects.

PS2 had over 40 gamess series. All these games made PS2 userbase.
All sequels of these games will make PS3 userbase.

By the way, about WHAT game then they cared, which made PS2 to sell? lol.
