We're becoming increasingly fascinated by Microsoft Vancouver's unannounced AAA core game project, among the secret and not-so-secret Xbox 360 gamesmooted in our recent Microsoft E3 predictions round-up. A new MGS job listing has hacked away a little more ambiguity - the game is a multiplayer shooter.

The studio is "looking for a talented and experienced Lead Online & Multiplayer Engineer to deliver a best in class networked gameplay experience and online services for an AAA game title". The right candidate will have "multiplayer online lead experience shipping a current generation AAA console game", and "experience shipping multiplayer shooter (3PS,FPS) games" is "highly desired".

Not familiar with MGS Vancouver? It's "a world-class development team" that's "dedicated to making games for 'core' gamers". The studio's mission is to "push the limits of proven and unexplored game development and show the world what's possible on Microsoft's game consoles". Hmm. "Consoles" rather than "console", then. And presumably you're no longer making games for the original Xbox, chaps.

In fairness, there's nothing here to confirm that this is a completely new game. It's possible MGS Vancouver is lending 343 a hand with Halo 4's massively ambitious multiplayer. Your thoughts?

MGS Vancouver was formed last year, correct? The average AAA title takes 2-3 years, which would align with a 2013-2014 release date so presumably a Nextbox title. I don't expect any details on the game at E3 this year.

Well it would be nice to see a new franchise come from MS. I mean i love Fable, Halo, Forza, and Gears but i want a little more diversity. They are sitting on some good franchises i don't get why they don't use them.

Good. I think they have been seriously lacking in exclusive multi-player shooters.

Halo spinoff? I dunno, but maybe they are working on something on the line of ODST2?

Can't wait for them to show this game off, could very well be a next-gen title, which would be good.

Just what we need, more shooty, shooty, bang, bang games, go team!

Plugging that multiplayer shooter gap in the Xbox library.

Cool, ill play if its any good.

Hopefully if it's a MP only shooter they'll make some sort of MAG that's actually good.
