Forums - Sales - Analyst: "Apple's iPad continues to cut into home console sales of Microsoft and Sony."

That's why Nintendo is making the Wii U tablet controller. It's to try to trick consumers into thinking that it's just like an iPad. The problem is that it's not as streamlined and much more dorky looking.

i really do worry about the future of gaming

I would be more worried about that sig length if I were you.

but why??

I thought I was perfectly clear: Your sig may stretch too far down the page which may lead to a warning, and later ban. You should check with a mod and ask for approval.

oh shit i did not know this, i'm quite new here. is the image copyright or something? i have no such problems on my end. the image seemed normal size to me

It's not the pic that's the problem as such. If you can squeeze your sig a little so it takes less room then it'd be fine.

My rational logic mindset finds me incapable of processing any threads you make Rol.

Good on you, none the less!

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

The analysis is flawless. If you're spending money on an iPad then you're not spending money on an HD console.

Analyst is just plain wrong. For several reasons:

1. The home consoles are nearing market saturation and are in their 6th/7th years on the market! That's longer than any other generation, so of course it is natural that sales will be declining.
2. He's making this claim after only a few short months of the new year, at a time that sales are generally much lower anyway.
3. The iPad/Tablets will never replace or even hardly steal any marketshare from consoles because they are completely different interfaces and playing environments. Have fun playing 4 person shooter multiplayer on a single iPad screen...

The day a tablet/iPad integrates TV display technology without latency and adds some other control interface like buttons/joysticks, all at a comparable cost ($500 for a tablet???) and offers software with comparable features and scale is the day consoles will be worried.

That's like saying tablet computers are taking away from Living Room television marketshare because they can watch movies and things on their tablet... complete rubbish.

Dude, it was a joke...

Rol struck again here: http://uk.gamespot.com/forums/topic/26948620/analyst-the-ps3-will-finish-a-distant-3rd-this-generation?page=0

Wow. 6 pages and not only did no one notice, they actually think he's more credible than Pachter.

Wow, people... it was FICTIONAL. Does no one read the entire post anymore before commenting?

This makes about as much sense as an analyst claiming the console gaming industry is down because of the sudden popularity of canned pears.

If they took the time to write a fictional article, then that's there problem, not mine. I only waste 30 seconds, they waste 20 minutes.
