Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft Fires A Few Shots At New Call Of Duty

TheGamersHub

While it may be top headline for the majority of the week that Black Ops 2 is going to be this years installment of the Call Of Duty franchise, Ubisoft decided to announce today that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has gone gold. In the press release, Ubisoft decides to fire a few choice words at their newest competitor in Future Warfare.

In the press release announcing that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has gone ‘gold’, Ubisoft’s Senior Vice President of Marketing & Sales, Tony Key had this to say about the competition.

“While one of our competitors recently revealed plans to imitate our game’s future technology for their release in the fall, we’re proud to be bringing Ghost Recon: Future Soldier to retail this month.”

Giving Tony the benefit of the doubt, he never mentioned Black Ops 2 by name but we all know what he was talking about. So  given Black Ops 2′s new futuristic 2025 war torn setting this is almost a direct challenge. Tony Key continues to tout Future Soldiers stance in comparison to the competitor.

“Future Soldier has an unparalleled amount of high-tech weapons, gadgets and technology based on real prototypes currently in development that will show gamers the true meaning of future warfare.”

All in all it is an interesting and to say the least bold statement from Ubisoft saying that their title will give gamers the ‘true‘ meaning of future warfare. Which is understandable as their game is based solidly in reality with weapons based off of prototypes currently in development as the statement says. However it is not to say that Black Ops 2′s Treyarch and company are not doing their research as well. It will be interesting how each title fairs and how the fans respond to the futuristic elements in each.

If the beta for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is any indication, players will be addicted to the gameplay long after Black Ops 2 is released.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier launches on Playstation 3 & Xbox 360 on May 22nd in North America, May 24th for PAL territories and the 25th for UK. The PC version will be launching June 12th in North America, 14th for PAL and the 15th for UK.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 is set for November 13th 2012.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

Woods would be disappointed

Yay!!!

Because the future as a setting hasn't been done before. In fact, Ubisoft invented future warfare, the 22nd century will be known as the Ubisoft Century.

Ugh Ubisoft. Tell me when BG&E 2 comes out.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

lol Ubisoft needs to take a few lessons from EA in how to bash competitor's games. They are clearly not doing it right.

The sad thing is modern warfare 3 will be ahead of Ghost Recon 2 in June NPD. Lets not even start talking about a new call of duty.

I'm waiting for my multiverse shooter game where one version of Earth has alchemy, another has time travel, and others have various other little nitpicky things that came about based on minute decisions humans created in their history. If Ubisoft creates a Ghost Recon like that and Call of Duty releases an iteration similar to it, then I will be amazed!

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward = best game ever made.
