Call of Duty is fun. The internet is full of jaded gamers who are more interested in the console war. VGC is especially bad, since we have such a huge supply of annoying weaboos.

Well if people would care for quality they would play Battlefield 3
Call of Duty is the thing that is cool at school
Its the Justin Bieber of gaming
Cause srsly > Why is anyone liking Justin Bieber? He has no talent, can't sing or anything.
There are even people who say the Beatles copied Justin Bieber or Rolling Stones and so on are worse than Nicky Minajh.
Those people like Justin Bieber,Minajh and so on have MILLIONS of fans and are always in the charts and on TV while you don't see Metal/Rock Bands and Opera singers(the only real musicians that can really sing) there.
Why isn't real hard metal on the 0815 radio station?Instead they play 10 times per hour the same lame computer generated song from some random "musician".
I don't know how stuff like this works and why people like those things but mostly it isn't by far the best. Most of the time the popular things are the worst and pure scam.
I think people who listen to Justin Bieber and co and find them really amazing are also the audience for Call of Duty...The cool at school stuff.

IF THE SHOE FITS?!
Jk, I just hadn't heard that word in awhile.
What a lot of people forget it's about social gaming the good and the bad , that's why it sells ,too many people it is the online they buy the game for , how many of these people really care about comparisons with games of the past all they want to do is shoot things with or against there mates/other people , and when they move on to the next game with it's familiarity or same old , depending on your side of the fence , you tend to move on to , and just because something you don't like is mega popular , it doesn't mean if it wasn't you would be getting more jrpgs or whatever , especially when the makers of these games or publishers never made those type of games or if they did still do , another fact is money is money no matter it source and some of it might find it's way into funding a game you like .
Research shows Video games help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

What makes you think if Call of Duty vanished that it would result in games you prefer getting greater exposure? If Call of Duty went away, Halo and other PS3 exclusive FPS titles would be played.

Well you said it yourself, if Call of Duty was smaller people would instead play Halo and Killzone. And to some extent they would play other shooters that already exist (Crysis, Rage, Dead Space, Bioshock, Wolfenstein) and shooters that would have been made because the market would be more profitable (Jedi Knight 4, STALKER 2, Prey 2, Doom 4, Quake 5, Unreal), and even games in other genres (if the COD guy wasnt so damn hooked to COD he would play more Red Dead Redemption, Assassin's Creed and Dante's Inferno online).
Call of Duty is very addictive, people spend hundreds of hours on its online, and it comes out every freaking year and sells 25 million copies. Of course that is shrinking the space for other games.
Of course we are different.
We like games like Okami, and the average person on the street doesn't know what that is. Bet you they know what Call of Duty is though.
