C'mon GTA V! Dethrone COD!!!

Sadly it wont happen.  GTA games are released 4 years after the previous installment, and that makes room for another franchise to take the "mass appeal perk".   Call of Duty is the GTA of this generation, and it is also the "new Halo" for those who own a 360.   Halo4 wont sell as much as M$ hopes to, because people are loving COD right now.

I will buy GTAV, because I enjoyed a lot GTAIV and Red Dead Redemption.

I dont hate COD, but I prefer other kind of games; and also I have to set some priorities in my gaming choices, because I am not rich XD.    If I have lot of money I would buy every COD game (since black ops), because of the single player campaign (I dont give a damn about multiplayer).  Even though they are short, they are really cool.

You by any chance the same person?

I lol'd when I read that...especially saying MS wouldn't ever release Halo 4 in November with COD...which they are

But I do agree with his opinion that Black Ops 2 will do naughty things to Halo 4 sales wise.

I could swear that I read somewhere that Halo 4 was releasing on September XD.      Is M$ trying to regain the shooter supremacy on their own consoles?? Interesting, it is like if M$ told Activision:

Yeah I'm pretty sure MS negotiated with activision to release COD a week later than usual because now Halo 4 is releasing when COD used to and COD is releasing a week later than it's usual time. Although I really don't understand what their motivation to do that is.

Why are you people so jelly? Are people not allowed to buy what they enjoy playing?

Nope!  People are not allowed to buy what they enjoy playing!  It goes against everything that's good!

Haha!  Just kidding you.  I most likely will buy this CoD, however, I will avoid buying the map packs like I have done for MW3.  I really enjoyed Black Ops and so I'm interested to see what they do with this whole future-esk warfare.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

I think COD's release date was chosen to be 13th for a different reason altogether. If you check the calender the 13th is actually a total solar eclipse and BO2 was known as eclipse earlier on. Plus solar eclipse and moon travel was a recurring theme in the zombies storyline where Treyarch liked to include some insane puzzles for people to solve. With Zombies getting its biggest overhaul with its own new modes (storywise as well) I think it all blends in together.

Considering the direction GTA IV went, what makes you think GTA V isn't going to continue it?

I think it will, and that's why I'm excited for it.

What basis do you think it will?  People on here thought Skyrim would also be relatively bug free, believing a new engine would make a difference, and someone even speculated that iD would be working on Skyrim also, because iD and Bethsoft are owned by the same holding company.

I'm sorry I don't understand your reasoning regarding Skyrim? I don't think that's related at all.

I think they'll continue with most of what made GTA IV great with a little more silliness in terms of variety to keep some people happy. I'm basing this off a few things, in terms of story and themes; the very topical look at the current economic dilemma in the west and the aging white male character, in terms of gameplay; using the same base engine and my opinion that the handling model was pretty perfect and the gunplay just needs some tweaking.

I brought up Skyrim because there was a trend with the Bethsoft WRPGs and how they would be bugfests.  People were expecting it to be different.  So, based on what GTA4 was, I had wondered why you thought it would be different.  My understanding of fans of GTA is they want mayhem, not a critique of anything.  They want to do stupid stuff, mow down hookers and try to get a 5 star rating so the entire police come after them.

Give him a break. He's 13 so he's just repeating what he reads.
He'll learn to make his own decisions once he matures a little bit.

I'm so tired of you. Stop acting like, because of my age, I can't make decisions by myself and I can't do things without someones consent. You are being utterly ridiculous.

I don't believe people three times your age are qualified to made judgement calls for the interests of the entire human race.  What makes you think you are qualified to do such?

Yes I'm aware that that Elder Scrolls games are famously buggy and that some peope may thought it would have changed...but there's really no relation there, other than both being fan expectations about video games.

Well I'm a massive GTA fan, hundreds of hours put in over all the 3d console releases, and I love the new direction they seem to have taken in the series. The beauty of it is that you can still 'mow down hookers', but that there's this biting satire and genuinely good writing behind the rest of it as well.

Note that the message isn't just for you, but others who are acting cranky about things and demanding Call of Duty disappear.  I did see your message after I wrote it, but what I wrote still applies in general, particularly those who are older than you.

Heck, I also blogged about this earlier:
