I often choose names from books or movies. Mnementh, Dishayloo, Binabik, Xellos ... For many of this names I developed in my mind a character-image, so I often choose the name after the style I want to develop the character.

I use the default names, if I don't like the default names. I then switch to Japanese names for my characters.

I almost always use my own first name. Boring, but true. If there are more characters, I name them after friends/coworker who fit the character.
