Rare ruled the gaming world at the time this game came out. So many great titles from them.

A sequel though? Without that Rare, there's no point; and no other team except EAD could do it justice, and they already have Mario Kart (MK7 took features from this game, and in a way is a spiritual sequel to both series).

Give it to Retro Studios. They even assisted with Mario Kart 7.

"an act of emergency" to get Mario Kart 7 finished by the end of the year. Retro was brought in to help on some courses, notably the aforementioned DKC-themed level."

I'd love to see a sequel to this game if it is done properly and expands on what DKR is. I have many happy memories of playing this with the family. My children's friends used to come over all the time specifically to play the game.

Haha, I was on the other side of that wall: I only had Mario Kart 64 so I went to my friend's house to play/borrow it.

I later got the DS remake which I enjoyed equally as much playing local multiplayer! :)

This game was very good, i loved the plane, it had great graphics and sound, it took ideas from the 3d plataformers of the time(level desing)............the controls were not perfect though..........for me this was better than Mario kart 64.
I would love to see a remake for the 3DS but not a entirely new entry.

Oh man I love this game, had some great times playing this back in the day with friends. It took Mario Kart and added another dimension, with the story mode and planes. Never really got into the hover crafts though :/

A sequel to this would be absoultely magical, but sadly, Rare and Nintendo have parted ways, and even if we somehow get a sequel on the 360, (which isn't possible anyway due to Diddy being a Nintendo character), Rare is only a shell of its former self and the quality wouldn't be anywhere near the same.

So Retro Studios? Of the two games they release next generation; would you expect Diddy Kong Racing to be the first or the second?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Fzero is in more need imo. Fzero for the GCN was great and I can't wait to see how the wiiu could improve it.

Best racing game -ever- to me.
Ah, Diddy Kong Racing... So much joy, so much frustration... T_T
I adore this game.

I guess I should point out that F-Zero GX sold less than 500k while Diddy Kong Racing sold 4.8 million.

This series is in far more need of a sequel than F-Zero.

Diddy Kong racing is maybe my favorite karting game, the graphics were top, and the hovercraft was my favorite vehicle. I never beat the pig (cause I don't use gamefaqs generally and didn't know the let go of A trick).

I loved collecting all the collectibles (can't remember what they were though, coins?). The power ups were superior to those in MK and the Multiplayer was lots of fun.

Great game, I'd love to see one on the WiiU or on the 3DS, but I don't believe any studio can recreate the magic Rare made in those years...
