Forums - Nintendo - Wii U to have Android OS rumored

@gumby_ I remember HappySquirell saying the Nintendo could be using Bluetooth 3.0 to stream the info between the console and the controller, but take it with a pinch of salt.

that could work, since the high speed component in 3.0 is just 802.11 wifi.

If that's the case it may be possible to rout the signal around the house with a standard home router... I hope Nintendo allows this.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Nintendo having their own App Store a la Amazon. That could keep the tablet useful in the application front. I like!

Just look at the 3DS, no video conference app yet, and just read the other day that Vita released their Skype app already.

This could be a very good thing if true, having Android apps able to be used on Wii U could open it up to a huge amount of casual games, helping to keep it's Wii Casuals marketshare whilst not hurting the actual games attempts to draw "hardcore" gamers back to Nintendo, maybe Google has seen this as an opportunity to help themselves (and at the same time, Nintendo, though I don't see them as competitors) try and take the fight right up to Apple, having close compatibility between Android devices and Wii U could be very helpful to both in the long run.

I remember when they said the same thing about the Vita. It was BS then, too.

That would uncharacteristic of Nintendo, if so. However, I do see Nintendo having select Android Apps run on the Wii U. That's straight bringing the mobile world (Cell Phone, Tablet aspect) to their playing field as opposed to their shareholders cry of porting over Nintendo IPs to the mobile world.

It wasn't BS. It made all logical sense, especially considering Sony's big push into Android at that point with Xperia Play and the Playstation Suite and the OS views of Vita that showed a top bar that was/is identical to Android 2.3.

I still think Sony screwed the pooch. They should have taken Android, added specific security layers for gaming and they would of had a far better and more functional setup. Tons of immediate applications, solid browser, solid social system, etc. Forcing it to be Sony only is too limiting and now you have to wait for subpar apps that are behind the features on smartphone/tablets.
