This is now Sonys #1 IP. People say an IP should be measured on individual sales, which is true, but I also believe number of releases per gen matters just as well.

Good that Sonys best franchise came from this gen as an origional IP.

Critically anyway. Commercially, Sony's best franchise still holds firm at Gran Turismo.

Then again that all depends on what the production costs were for GT5... given the Development time that it took to complete the game. Obviously the Uncharted games this gen have an overall advantage since there has been 3 on the PS3 alone and one of the Vita so far so would have generated the most revenue/profit but i would agree that series comparison there basically is none in terms of revenue/profit (thanks mainly to the insane sales of GT3 and 4 lol)

Remember that Prologue covered most (if not all) of GT5's costs

should i give GT a try? i just bought a PS3 not to long ago, and i really like the forza series. im interested in GT5 as well, is it as good of a sim as people say it is?

also i read that all of the Gran Turismo 5 dev costs was $60 million. and with GT5p having nearly 5.5 million sales, they would have only need make $12 per GT5p sold to make a profit, they probably made near twice that off the prologue, so i am willing to bet they made over $50 million on the prologue alone.

Here's the box art for the GOTY edition of Uncharted 3:

It sure looks fine.

Wow, I want that just for the artwork...

Anyway, 17m sales are very very nice! Slight undertracking, a few units in stock and digitial sales will probably explain the discrepancy between here and Sony

Well. Just Uncharted for Vita have digital sales and I can't see it selling that much in a 1.7 million user base.

I guess we are undertracking U2 and U3.

that's news. i'd like to see UC3 hit 6m yr. end

disagree - 3 games (i'm forgetting about GA for the moment) at 20M a pop results in ~17M in sales.

GT - 2  game (5 and prologe) at ~60M results in just over 10M.

GT might have more sales per game release but uncharted has more sales for the same investment.

on the PD website it say GT5 and GT5p have sold nearly 13 million as of 3 months ago.

also where did you get the cost to make Uncharted at, i have looked every where and have found nothing, i did find GT dev cost though. but surely a game of Uncharted 3's quality cost at least 25 million to make. i wouldnt be surprised if the actualy dev cost was someting like this. Uncharted 1- $20 m, Uncharted 2- $25 m, Uncharted 3- $25- 30 million.

and you leaving out Uncharted GA also is fair, surely that flag ship title for the vita had one of the biggest if not the biggest budget for a handheld game ever. i would save maybe around $5 million+, and with it around 1 million+ sales so far.

so really it should either look like this

3 games at 25 million a pop (75 million total) results in ~16 million in sales

or

4 games at ~80 million total cost rusults in 17.3 million sales.

GT- 2 games at ~60 million results in 13 million in sales.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss is the only Uncharted title available digitally, so it's completely reasonable to guess that VGC is undertracking them by a bit.

So the franchise in VGchartz is undertracked by 2.5M, while there are still 500K copies on shelve (or even less)??

3M (aprox)-500K = 2.5M units untertracked
