Forums - Nintendo - Could the 'Super Mario 4' game be a 3D Mario for the Wii U?

A few days ago, Nintendo registered the name 'Super Mario 4'.

I was thinking, is this game a 3D Mario game for the Wii U?...notice that there´s no 'Bros' in the name, and the 'Bros' part usually belongs to a 2D Mario, no?

Super Mario 64 --- "Super Mario 1"

Super Mario Sunshine --- "Super Mario 2"

Super Mario Galaxy --- "Super Mario 3"

Super Mario Galaxy 2 --- more like a 'FFX-2, FFXIII-2', a spinoff.

Super Mario for the Wii U --- "Super Mario 4"

2D Mario for the Wii U will probably come out, having the 'Bros' part in the name, and the 3DS game has already been revealed.

So, since 'Super Mario 4' has no 'Bros', isn´t the new Mario for the 3DS, I´m thinking it might be the new 3D game that´ll be revealed at E3, to showcase the Wii U´s power.

Velly intellesting. No joke, that would be neat. Another return to the roots for 3D Mario, I'm all for it.

^That one went out of the park.

As funny as that is, would you have a source for "Sunshine isn't a game Ninteno is proud of"?

Maybe your right. A 3D Mario adventure game is guaranteed anyway. And a New Super Mario Bros 2 WiiU.

Nintendo never made a game like it again.

There is a definite impression in there that something was "off" about Sunshine. An attempt by Nintendo to thrust Mario games in the adventure direction, which just isn't a great fit.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
