To be fair nsmb2 will (potentially) sell well and ensure future 3ds sales therefore give nintendo a shit load of money to play around with, so it's kinda necessary esp in these competetive times.

Wow, exactly like the wii one. I'm honestly disappointed even though I am sure I will like it.

BUT, this leads me to believe that the Wii U Versiona will be way more of a comprehensive overhaul, with boat loads of new shit, or maybe the two games will interact with each other...

Okay, so 3DS is gonna be huge this Year.

The question running through my mind is this - If 3DS is getting NSMB2, what will WiiU have on launch? Will they release 2 2D Mario games within 3 Months of eachother? WiiU needs a strong lineup and I thought they'd have had Mario on launch.

You bring up a good point. If this game is coming around the time the wiiu rleases will Nintendo also opt to release a 2d mario at launch for the wiiu. My guess is, maybe no? Perhaps Nintendo will release a 2d mario, and mario kart the same year to combat the nextbox and/or ps4.

Well, the only thing that matters to me is for SMB3L to be the best selling 3D Mario game in Japan, and that's guaranteed to happen before august, so no biggie.

But imagine if Nintendo's trinity becomes a Tetranity.

True enough.  It just occured to me after I posted that Koizumi's Galaxy/3D Land team might be making the Wii U Mario Bros. as a download title for the Wii U eshop.  That would certainly explain two Mario games being released within three months of each other.  If Pikmin 3 and Retro's launch game are boxed retail, then Nintendo can use Mario Bros. 4 or whatever it's gonna be called to kick off the eShop.
