(Official because I say so).
The last Political Compass thread is buried beneath several pages of posts, and we all know how quickly our political opinions can change. And, of course, we've had an influx of new members who might like to share their ideology.
For those who don't understand how it works, the political compass is a two-dimensional scale. On the x-axis is a measure of your economic liberalism. The far right is somebody who wants very little regulation and a completely free market, like Ron Paul. On the far left is someone who thinks the economy should be fully controlled by the government, like Vladimir Lenin.
On the vertical scale is a measure of your social conservatism. Being at the top means you believe in a strong government, harsh punishments for criminals, low immigration, and few civil liberties, like Rick Santorum. Being at the bottom is the opposite of all those things, and you are similar to the Dalai Lama or Mahatma Gandhi.
A one-dimensional scale mixes up the two, with ridiculous implications like the Nazis being far-right (when in fact, they were in fact quite economically centrist and believed in strong state control of the economy).
So without further ado, take the test here: http://www.politicalcompass.org/test
I have drifted to the left very slightly and down a fair bit since the last time I took it, and am comfortably in the bottom-right:
