quick reminder, not all wii's have gamecube backwards compatibility anymore. I wanna say either the mariokart bundle, or the new supermario bros bundle discontinued the functionality.

Good point, totally forgot about that... The blue Wii is definately not GC compatible anymore. (If when you buy it it mentions 'slim model' or 'slim style' or something similar then it probably won't play GC games)

The blue Wii? I have a black one is there any difference between them?

Starting about a year ago Nintendo removed backwards compatability from the system. If your system is the longer one, and has flaps on top of the system, you have a backwards-compatible one. Otherwise, you have the newer, cheaper system.

I think Black is backward compatible, if it can be placed vertically, (includes the base), you are definately ok.

I will check it out when I get home, but I know I have two slots on the upper side covered by a flap but it doesnt look like an input for a Gamecube controller

The older models will have two flaps on top (top side if you are standing it vertically, left side if you lay it flat). One has four GC controller ports under it and the other has two GC memory card ports.

Apparently the newer smaller models don't have a flap at all.. the place where the GC ports were will be screwed down.

The other ways to recognise the difference:
 - The new model doesn't come with a stand (the grey chunk of plastic you see at the bottom of the pic above)
 - Supposedly on the box the console came in, the new ones will be shown laying flat, while the old ones are shown standing vertically in the stand.

I´ll check it out when I get home

Damn, I hope you have the older model

I checked it today it is Backwards compatible, I´ll ask a friend to borrow me his joystick and t a game to try it tomorrow

Has anybody played Pandoras Tower yet? I saw it at gamestop tody for 19,99€

Since you like RPGS and action games, I strongly suggest Monster Hunter Tri. It's a combination of both and will last you a long, long time.

Also, if you like Mario Kart get Mario Kart Wii. It's the best game in the series as far as I'm concerned.
