Forums - Nintendo - Explain why people love Pokemon games to me please!

IMO its.

II > III > V > I > IV    (Remakes not a factor)

Gen 3 was like 2002-2006

I was in Middle/High School then and my parents were no longer giving me money to buy games.

So with what money I could earn I focused more on my GC games than my GBA games. ;p

A bunch of pokemon to catch, differant builds for many of them, a healthy competitive comunnity. But overall its perfect for large and small gaming times and to interact personally with other trainers many times, that's why dont really like the idea of console game, but if it happens so be it.

Also Gen V was here everygen else is a loser.

I agree, gen II were the best games.

Gen I had the best pokemon though, can't beat the original 151.

Because who doesn't want to be the best, like no one ever was.

I'm an advocate for motion controls, Nintendo, and Kicking freaking Toad to the Moon!

someone who's never had any experience with pokemon? that's (sadly) startling to me haha

well, i like pokemon because... i watched the show, loved the game as a kid--and still do--and.... because it's pokemon!

honestly my main motivation to learn how to read was probably because i wanted to play pokemon :P

I enjoyed Pokemon back in Gen 1, but ever since it's just been the same rinse and repeat formula with each installment, just with more Pokemon with even more ridiculous names. At least many of the first gen Pokemon's names were original and made sense.

Haven't cared about Pokemon since the days of Gold and Silver, and probably won't again unless they release an actual 3D Pokemon game (not just a Stadium-type game) with a full world to explore and battle and capture Pokemon in real time as opposed to the random encounter, turn based system that Nintendo refuses to evolve from.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Competative Pokemon

The amount of prediction and mind games one can do really brings it to be an amazing metagame.

It's what got me back in the series (after skipping gen 3).

Gen 4 was what got the whole competitive scene going properly, I have literally put 100s of hours making competitve teams (IV+RNG breeding/EV training) and battling people online. Gen 5 made it even better. Oh the fun of battling real people competitively with all the crazy mind games you can play and intricate movesets you can put on your pokemon.

There's no reason not to play pokemon, no matter what age and what gamer you are.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

@OP: You should definitely try one of the games (a cheap one so you don't risk much) if your interest is aroused.
Don't let any number of negative comments turn you away from a potentially great experience if there is even one true, passionate positive comment out there (which in the case of Pokemon I presume there are plenty).
