I think the problem is that people only associate japanease games by Jrpgs. The japanease industry is not dying,it's just that a certain genre is not as strong at it once was.Look at games like Resident Evil,Dark Souls,Nintendo's whole library, continue to thrive

Your arguement falls flat when you realize nintendo has been a japanese rpg force this gen..................

Agreed. It seems that Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest have migrated to Nintendo systems. And Nintendo has some great RPG devs like Monolith, AlphaDream, and Intelligent Systems.

He's right. Japanese games this gen have been pretty damn average. Resi 5, lost planet, final fantasy, devil may cry to name a few games which are pretty damn poor. Where they should have been great.

Fish is right. Oh and fez is awesome better than any Japanese game this gen.

Sorry but Japanese devs need to wake up.

Haven't laughed that hard on these forums in a while.

I have bought 9 Japanese games this gen and rented 3 more on top of that. I have only  finished one of them. Thats 11 Japanese games Ive played this gen that to be quite honest are pure tripe. Interest is lost in about 4 hours. Gone wooosh. They will never get my attention again for these game franchises. Fez is easily one of the most addictive and intriguing titles Ive played all generation. The same reason I loved Portal so much is present with Fez. It makes me lol that you lol at a game so much better than you actually realise.

Lets take a look at all the rpgs nintendo themselves have been apart of, inbluding published games
dragon quest V
dragon quest VI
dragon quest joker 2
dragon quest IX
golden sun 3
glory of heracles
magical vacation 2
mario and luigi 2
mario and luigi 3
super paper mario
fire emblem 1 remake
fire emblem 3 remake
fire emblem 11
xenoblade
pokemon 4th gen ( 3 games)
pokemon fith gen ( 3 games including the sequels)
mystery dungeon 2 ( 2 games)
pokemon ranger 1
pokemon ranger 2
pokemon ranger 3
pokemon conquest

and more

Its more rpg production than bioware, bethesda, ea, obsidian and everyone else combined

Selnor, what are those 11 JP games?

@ Carl2291 Your statements about violence in Western games are hypocritical as even most Japanese games have some sort of violence and so do most of the Western games you said were great. Batman Arkham city, (the current game I am playing sticks out the most) along with Dragon Age.

That being said, I think Eastern Developers make horrible shooters.

The sales of Japanese games are declining and it does not bother me. I love many of the Western games and JRPGs have bored me and feel childish to me for the most part this gen. Western developers are by no means perfect as the games have gotten easier (thank goodness for difficulty modes) and they make way too many shooters and sequels and not enough new IPs.

How can you tell him not to generalize..............and be hypocritical, when your doing the exact same thing..............

The sales of japanese games have been constant. Thats fact. You might not like japanese rpgs, but the diversity, innovation, quality, quantity cannot be denied

How am I being hypocritical by giving my opinion that I do not like most Japanesee games I have played this gen? They are mostly bad for me. Saying Western games are all about violance and Japanese games are not is not an opinion. So that makes it hypocritical. Also, I never said he was generalizing.

I like many JRPGs and Japanese games just not even close to the amount of Western games I like. Go look at my favorite PS1 game in my profiler if you do not believe me. The sales of many Japanese games must be declining because the developers like Square Enix are constantly saying they are losing sales and they need to find better ways to attract the Western audience.

Actually, Id like to make a huge apology to japanese devs.

For whatever reason, Ive not realised Ive enjoyed alot of Japanese games actually.

Games from Japan Ive loved and finished:

Bayonetta

Ninja Blade

Ninja Gaiden 2

Street Fighter 4

Soul Calibur 4

Lost Odyssey

Blue Dragon

Castlevania LOS

Tales Of Vesperia

Child Of Eden

Games I thought were poor

Resi 5

FF13

DMC 4

Resonance Of Fate

lost planet 1 & 2

PES ( this series has failed to move forward )

Theres actually alot more games I enjoyed than I didnt. Maybe because some of the big names from Japan disappointed me made me think Japanese games were poor. But honestly Ive enjoyed alot.

So yes, Sorry Japan.

Still Fez is one of the best games I have played this gen next to portal.

Well, for me Resident Evil 5 and Devil May Cry 4 are amazing games.  But FFXIII sucks. lol
