I own the Kinect from day one and enjoyed it for like 2 minutes. The only people using it in my family are my kids and their stupid friends but it been bugging me lately because how easily it get turn on accidentally. You say "Xbox" it turns on, you walk by waving your hands it turns on. It been getting very annoying. Does this bother any other Kinect owner?

How often do you say Xbox in a situation where the Kinect actually listens for you to say Xbox?

I guess I'm just not really sure what your problem is.  If you're not playing a Kinect game, the Kinect doesn't care what you say or what you do.    If you're on the dashboard moving will wake your 360 up if the screen is dimmed, but does that actually matter?  I also don't generally sit on my couch and wave my hands so I guess that Kinect Guide coming up also isn't that big of a problem for me...

As for using the Kinect, I use the voice controls a lot, I love them.  I haven't played a Kinect game in a while on my Kinect, but that's mainly because I haven't had a lot of time to game.  I'll be using it for Mass Effect 3 when I finally get around to starting that (I'm mainly waiting for a face patch and then have to beat Mass Effect 2 again since my save won't import at all) and I use to use the Ubisoft fitness game a lot.  Now that I'm not incredibly busy and working 12+ hours a day I'll probably start that back up soon-ish.  I'll eventually pop Kinect Star Wars in for the easy achievements but I'm going to hold off on that for a little while...

All that said, I do actually have my Kinect unplugged at the moment, but that's mainly because I got a new 360 and I didn't feel like going through the setup.

Maybe my Kinect is defective because it's very sensitive.

Wow seeing seece nowadays is bloody depressing.

I haven't since I not got one yet but will do just to experience crimson dragon.

Annoying thing is that the price of a kinect standalone accessory has gone up here..

EDIT

I'm also liking the kinect support for skyrim

What do you mean "You say "Xbox" it turns on, you walk by waving your hands it turns on"?  Is there a setting I'm missing?  My Kinect doesn't turn on until I turn the Xbox on.  I can say Xbox all day long but unless I hit the power button on my Xbox 360, it doesn't do a thing.  Same goes for "walking buy and waving my hands".  It doesn't even recognize me when it is already on unless I stand in the "sweet spot" and wave at it in the specific way described.

I actually recognize this.. except I would replace certain words for "Girlfriend"

Yeah, I just take some of my old posts and switch the words around, sometimes.  It saves time.  I'm a busy, busy man.

I use it for skyrim....

Yay!!!

Both Kinect sensors were connected to the PC for mocap. They're currently unplugged but still in place for when I need more shots.

Only plugged one in to the Xbox to set it up and found that it worked better where I have the mocap area set up since the couch in the living room is a little too close to the TV for full body motion gaming. I won't relocate the Xbox every time I want to play the handful of Kinect games I have so until/unless I buy a second Xbox for the other room I'll need a better reason than Fruit Ninja, Gunstringer and Child of Eden to plug one back into the Xbox.

Not sure if Star Wars would have me mildly amused/entertained, lamenting the $50 I just wasted to confirm the game is actually crap, or nerd raging over the destruction of my childhood as I watch Han Solo dance.
