Forums - Nintendo - Am I the only one worried about the future of Wii U?

Bill Cosby summed up my concerns best when he said:
"I am proud to be an American. Because an American can eat anything on the face of this earth as long as he has two pieces of bread."

edit: oops, I meant this one: "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Not sure why you're putting so much focus on this holiday season. If the Wii U launches on the previously rumoured date (Nov 18th in the US) and then follows the same launch pattern of the Wii (eventually releasing in all major regions by mid Dec), then it's going to be practically impossible for it to outsell the PS3 or 360 even if they sell out every Wii U unit they have ready.

Releasing in the holiday season practically guarantees a good launch though, but it's what happens after that that matters most.

With the wii u I don't think nintendo are doing anything that different from any other generation (at first I had my concerns but the more i think about it the more they seem unfounded...the botched 3ds launch seems to have taught nintendo that in order to succeed they gotta act more like NINTENDO!!!)
No I don't think nintendo are trying to steal the current 'hardcore' audience away from MS and Sony...I think they're merely attempting to keep their own fanbase happy. The biggest complaint this current gen, about the wii , was lack of 3rd party support and it appears that nintendo have tried to address this with the wii u. The wii u will do well enough with just it's 1st party lineup. If it attracts 3rd party support there might actually be 1 or 2 decent games to play on the damn machine inbetween mario games so everybody wins.
Having said that, I don't think the wii u will necessarily be the once and future king of all consoles or anything like that but I'm fairly sure it will succeed.
So, no, I'm not as worried as you!

I stop reading after point one. wonderfully in sales department? Well... mmmh yeah maybe not!

Microsoft will never gain Japan and Europe plus Sony is in deep trouble.

moreover, Wii U is not out yet. I am not worried - but indeed only time will tell.

Switch!!!

I don't think Nintendo has to fear about being killed. A loss to one of their competitors is possible both would be possible as well. If Nintendo is less then 2.5x the power then in 2015 it will likely be off shelves. However alot remains to be seen. How expensive will the next consoles be? 400+$ and they are going to have a little trouble if it is 500-600$ then they are in serious shit. If software is 80-120$ then software sales will plummet but if the software is below 80$ then developers and publishers will be screwed.

Nintendo will not have much trouble if their hardware is affordable, software is affordable if Nintendo can get the software cheap enough. As for hardcore their is a difference between graphic whore and hardcore. Hardcore gamers will buy it if their is a good line up. If Nintendo has the open online network they talked about. Then they won't have trouble.

I think the Wii U will be a Gamecube console disaster but right now its way to erly to tell. Depends what the competitors have to offer for us.

I do not want them to be market leader I think they deserve to exist, but deserve to be third because of their low powered hardware in the wii and I expect the Wii U to not be a big enough jump to gain my respect after Sony and MS had such powerful systems for 6-7 years. Not to mention their IP's (except Zelda) are mostly quick play games that get boring fast. So I am worried they will just become the HD consoles newest member, making the twins triplets.

Let's not forget the power of the kiddy & christmas.
Nintendo with their kiddy console, kiddy games pulling not powerful graphics and enough shaders, but also in the kiddy department, will perform very well.

kiddy = kids = christmas = soccer moms = oldies= just dance = casuals = Nintendo = $$$$

I'm pretty sure my prediction success rate is lower than Pachter's, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about xD
