But this IS the same rumor using "the latest issue of Xbox World magazine" as the original source.

Even with XBW explaining themselves?

Yeah man , I don't see what I'm missing here that wasn't already in the thread Attoyou started 3 days ago.

Well, that thread died so I guess at least I'm introducing this rumor to a new generation of readers.

Lol, yeah you are! I'm actually surprised with how well it's thriving, nice work :)

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

dude what the hell are you running ? 5GB in use ?

Haha, not much, basically my AV/firewall program, Firefox, iTunes, uTorrent and other small stuff.

uTorrent can be a hog when you have big torrents open. I'm currently getting an almost 39GB torrent as well as "checking" another 24GB torrent, as I didn't shutdown properly last time. Not too bad though as yesterday I had an almost 57GB torrent going!

Firefox is heavy, also "AVIRA" right?  that one is heavy too, i recommend Microsoft Security Essenssials.

I'm using PC Tools Internet Security and my license is good for another year, so I'm not changing for awhile.

Firefox is a bit heavy, but it's basically those big torrents that are causing the RAM usage. I have 16GB of RAM, so it's not really a problem though it can cause problems for my hdd unless I pre-allocate the space. I'm averaging about 5 or 6MB/s though the last 10 gigabytes should be finished in about half an hour or so.

yeah this rumor is crazy, unless MS wanna use this:

I heard through an E-mail from a friend 2 months ago that the new Xbox was going to be 16 cores @ 4 ghz. I also heard from the same guy that the console was looking to have 4gb of DDR 4 Ram. Also wit L3 4mb Cache and an added 256mb EDRAM.

Also the same forwarded E-MAIL claimed that Microsoft have found a great way to keep costs down and even including liquid cooling. With estimates of $400 release price.

Funnily enough I didn't take to much notice at the time, but now this rumour has appeared way after I had this E-mail I am HUGELY BELIEVING THIS.

I'm now inclined to believe te whole E-MAIL.

Kinect using 4 cores was also in the E-MAIL

Unlimited power!!!!!!!!p!!!!!!o!!w!!!!3!!!!r!

Seriously though, I'll say it again: I'd rather have a 8 core CPU and good other components than having a 16 core CPU and tacked on average components for the rest of the console.

Although if we can have a 16 core CPU and the rest of the console also high end, I won't complain. :)

I still think this is ludicrous. Even when considering Kinect 2's needs. The 8-core would be more sufficient and far more believable.

I guess I still need to account for it in my thread. :/

Considering a 16-Core Power7 server starts out at around $15,000, I highly doubt it.

Just also thought about this.
Xbox 360 came out in 2005. The 360 has a 6 threaded 3 core PowerPC based Processor running at 3.2ghz. When the 360 was first announced PC's were still using single core processors. In fact when the 360 released only 1 or 2 PC's actually had a dual core processor.

Looking at this rumour it looks perfectly feasible. Basically we have 8 core CPUS on the market. By xmas 2013 there will be 16 core CPUS here.

When the 360 launched a dual core Pentium at 2.4ghz costed around $350. But yet the 3 core Xbox 360 was fantasticly priced for its power at the time. $479.99.

Durango:
16 cores, 4gb DDR4 ram unified, 256 EDRAM, 1TB HDD, liquid cooling, Windows 8, Kinect 2.0, DX12 GPU/13 ready.

Retail : $450 - $500. Easy.

In fact if Sony don't have something similar, then it'll be disappointing.

Xmas 2013 this is easily feasible. 8 core processors in 2013 Xmas will be well under $100 to consumer off the shelf. Let alone to Microsoft.

16 cores. Finally what I expected to have at that time.

It could happen. MS could sell at a loss on hardware and make it up on 360 profitability.

Now all they need to do is get a headstart on PS4 to seal the deal.
