We were incredibly close to an announcement for Gears of War: Exile. The game was heavily rumored to be unveiled at the 2010 Video Game Awards. Strangely, the news and trailerwere pulled just hours before the show kicked off. It was later thought that Microsoft would have something to share at E3 2011.

Of course, there was no announcement at last year’s E3. And given the lack of information about the project, most had assumed that Exile had was either vaporware or had been cancelled.

Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski confirmed the latter in an interview with GameSpot.

He told the site:

“Let’s just bury the hatchet now. Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can’t give any details about that has since been cancelled.”

That's a disappointment. Image if this Gears: Exile would have released this year there would have been a Forza, Fable, Halo, and Gears game in the same year. One hell of a send off for the 360.

What the rumours about Exile? I know there was talk of a Pendulum Wars-era prequel developed by People Can Fly, so was that Exile?

Wasn't that the rumored on rails kinect game? Why on earth would they cancel that??

maybe MS decided to shelf it until nextbox and Kinect 2.0 ?

No problems with the awesome star wars kinect I can keep on going wiht my friends to 2014 without buying a new game...Fun factor 9/10? 10/10 fun factor minimum FTW!

Yeah, I think this was the Kinect game they were purportedly developing. It was supposed launch alongside Gears 3.

Hope so, should do the game some good if it's indeed a Kinect game.
