Forums - Gaming - Prophetic articles about the capabilities of the 360 vs PS3 back in Nov 2005- Impressive!

So this thread is full of 360 gamers isn't it.... this is an absolute massacure... are u kidding me.... KILLZONE 3 has some pretty big maps.... and so does infamous 2.... in fact I'd say killzone 3 is still a gen ahead of the majority of games on the 360.... and well ahead of gears 3 which looks almost last gen next to Uncharted 3

The PS3 has reached its max with Skyrim and Mass Effect 3. From now on it will have major framerate issues because games are getting bigger in time.Thats why they release HD-remakes lately...

This was common knowledge if you took the time to research it properly back then....but yeah most people didnt bother.

Some people in my country still believe the PS3 is considerably more powerfull than a 360 LOL!

Well it still is more powerful, just hard to program it to become so, therefore most games do not. The blu ray presents an advantage, but nothing really beats programming ease. Thankfully developers have decided to program for both. If every developer did what Naughty Dog does on the PS3 multiplats would run really smooth. Unfortunetly not everyone has that experience, concentration, or cash to do more than what's needed, but at least its done. I personally love the cell concept, but it might not be best for gaming. I guess i will be glad if cell bows out to be used more exclusively for supercomputing.

Blue-Ray is only really an advantage with Video and Audio. Models don't take up much room and even then the PS3 can't crunch enough polys for this to matter. High quality textures can take up A LOT of space, but the PS3 doesn't have the RAM or processing power to do anything with very high quality textures either.

And why are people always using Naughty Dog/ Uncharted as an example? Those are some of the most linear, heavily scripted games of the generation. Only On-rail shooters and games like Heavy Rain are worse.

I would love for Naughty Dog to put something out that is a little more dynamic, something that isn't so controlled. All these PS3 exlcusives that people hype up are the same thing. Very linear, heavily scripted games that only place you in very controlled situations.

truer words

...It is. It's just more difficult to program for.

What's so bad about linear games?

I highly prefer them over open-world games which are a borefest.  Grand Theft Auto owns that genre anyway so...

name me an xbox exclusive that gives more freedom to the player than infamous...

i find it ironic how you use that broad generalisation when at this point in time most recent xbox exclusives are toning down player control massively to support kinect controls

Wow that game looks amazing. How come I've never heard of it?

Skyrim and ME3 don't even scratch the surface of what the PS3 is capable of.

Killzone 3 is a much better example.

The reason we are getting HD-remakes is because PS3 has no PS2 backwards compatibility. Oh and did you hear abou the Halo remake last year on Xbox? yeah....

It can be argued both ways. From a pure theoretical point of view..yes ps3 is more powerfull. But realistically it isnt, and it definately isnt when it comes to game development. The only technical advantage the ps3 has is blueray.

Realistically, it is. There are games out there that take full advantage of the Cell.

Sorry to break it to you but these games can be done on the 360 and look almost exactly the same :)

There is no significant difference between the PS3 and the 360 when it comes to cpu/gpu processing power. This is not my opinion it is a fact. So dont reply.
