Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Official Xenoblade thread- Opinions, thoughts and questions inside! Can it hit 1mil in sales next year? Sequel coming for Wii U???

What is the best 'major' area in the game?

Colony 9 39 12.34%

Bionis' Leg 83 26.27%

The Marsh 20 6.33%

The Forest 17 5.38%

The Sea 24 7.59%

The Mountain 13 4.11%

The Valley 5 1.58%

Fallen Arm 22 6.96%

The Field of Metal 9 2.85%

See results! 73 23.10%

Total:305

So, I'm at level 71 and can take the Junk to the sky. I'm guessing that this is getting closer to the end of the game... Should I do it or continue to level up by killing high level monsters and completing quests? Also, is it worth it to completely rebuild Colony 6?

Is this before or after Mechonis Core?

If it's before, do any uncompleted 'clock' quests, and anything in the Mechonis. Because this is your last chance.

If it's after, then go back to loads of previous areas, like Colony 9, Colony 6, Frontier Village, Satorl Marsh, Makna Forest, Eryth Sea etc., as all of the remaining High Entia will have relocated, and they'll all have new quests as well. Also, a new area has opened up in Tephra Cave, and new areas can open up in other areas related to the High Entia, if you do the right quests. And all of the 5th skill trees for the characters are open for business now!

And you're right. You are pretty darn close to the end. Everything after the Core is considered 'endgame'.

One last structural question: Is there any point in saving old weapons? Can you trade them, find some use for other characters or something, or is selling your only recourse?

Each character has their own kind of weapons, so there's no point in saving old weapons. I think you can trade them, but I never did. You will get the best weapons from unique monsters and quest rewards, but never from trade. So sell old weapons and invest the money in art books.

Honestly, you never have to buy any weapons or armor. Drops from monsters and quest rewards are sufficient and usually better than what you can buy anyway.

That's what i figured, but i wanted to make sure before i started a sell-off.

Now if only that level 77 Ardun in the Guar plains would stop chasing me...

You think that's bad? Just be sure you don't go into the next major area (you'll know it when you reach it) at night then...

Dunban will warn you when you reach the final point of no return, so you will know when you are right before the end of the game. At that point you can just complete it and save on a different slot, then load your pre-completion file to play any remaining optional content you want. Or play New Game+ with your characters that are around level 80 and everything in the storyline will be super easy. Also, you have to do all sidequests all over again on a New Game+, because they don't transfer.

Rebuilding Colony 6 completely will make a level 100 monster appear (i.e. another challenging battle), you get more shops and plenty of trophies in the process too.

Speaking of Lv. 100 enemies, I fear I'm missing one:

I have killed the dragon in Colony 6 (Lv. 100), the Gogol at Three Sage Summit, and the Original Mechon on Jilfum Beach. I've seen the Lv. 120 in Three Sage Summit, but I haven't tried to kill it.

But I thought there was 5? If so, where's the last one?

I guess that it's before.  A lot of stuff just blew up.  I'll leave it at that.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Then it's best to go back and do any timed quests, because they expire now. Namely in Alcamoth and the Mechonis.

Unless you don't mind, then by all means go forward and kill teh beast

I only have a couple of timed quests if my memory serves me correctly, so I might as well do them.

I'm pretty sure that I'll start finishing quests later and then get impatient.  :p

It's the same thing which happened with me. I went back thinking 'ah, well there's only a couple left', but then they unlocked another one, and another one, and another one...

Eventually I think I did them all, but I'm still 5 quests short in Alcamoth. I think they're standard Monster quests, or something, but I just wanted to see what happened to the characters in the story, knowing they'd be plenty of other quests afterwards anyway!

Satorl Marsh, near the Nopon cave where all the bunnies are. A level 108 bunny.

Valak Mountain, near the now blocked entrance to Sword Valley. A huge level 114 monster.

The dragon in Colony 6 isn't counted as a unique monster, because it doesn't drop an affinity coin.

No wonder I couldn't find the one in the Marsh

I also didn't believe that there could be 3/5 UM's in Valak Mountain, but, well, there you go. I'll have a crack at them then, will probably start with the Bunny! It's less scary...

The story in this game really takes a nose dive once you get to Mechonis...

Once you reach the end of Agniratha (if you're at Mechonis Field, you got a little bit to go) it's pretty much uphill from there.

Nah, I've been past Agniratha for a week and am just level grinding now.  There's no indication the story gets any better unless the ending just blows me away, which looks completely unlikely.
