Yeah, FF is the best in terms of sales, but this gen is nowhere near as big as previous games:

http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=Final+Fantasy+&publisher=&platform=&genre=Role-Playing&minSales=0&results=200 (FFXIII in 5th combined, behind FFVII, VIII, X, XII)

yeah I know.

Still, it's like the first (FFXIII) and (FFXIII-2) 3rd or 4th best selling game on PS3 in japan. Which shows how much Sony has fallen as well as final fantasy (in terms of sales).

For a limited release game Xenoblade has done pretty good! If they decide to keep pushing it through Christmas it could leg it out to 700-800 thousand copies!

North America: 0.20m 34.8%

+ Japan: 0.16m 27.5%
+ Rest of the World: 0.04m 7.8%

For The Last Story, as usual I am not too happy with Europes lack of support. But I think that America will make the game proud. It should not get close to Xenoblade first week, but 100,000 should be in the bag for it. With Close to 200,000 lifetime or more in America I think. Around 500,000 is not that bad, but better than the 180 thousand they had in just Japan.

Pandora's tower is not looking too good. With around 10,000 copies sold in Europe, I doubt it will be that much more popular if it ever comes to America. I forget if it has been confirmed or not. Not to be rude, but I do not know why NoE is getting all of these games? Japan and America is where it is at if they want to sell copies!

Still I think that this will not be the end. If they would just multi release these games from the start then the hype could be all in one place instead of spread over months and years! Release in Japan, two weeks later Europe, and then America! Demos, and trailers on the eshop and upcoming WiiU eshop should help people get a better idea of these games. Great idea for the 3DS!

Europe: 0.01m 14.3%

Are people still calling Xenoblade a limited release? It's on its second shipment, with a third coming, and you can buy it at other locations that Nintendo and GS nowadays. Indy game stores and Walmart, are good examples.

And TLS will likely end within 15-20k of Xenoblade in the UK, due to how well it sells long-term (Xenoblade has sold nearly 30k in the EU this year). Both are looking strong to easily pass 500k, and Xenoblade could end anywhere between 750 and 1mil, dependinng on how word-of-mouth carries it (sales have increase 350% in EU since its launch in America).

Pandora's Tower? Eh...not unexpected. It looks the worse, has the worst reviews and sold the worst in Japan. No surprise if it doesn't go to America, and if it does, no higher than 350k WW.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I mean, people got pissed at Earthbound back in the day because it was on SNES and had NES (not even good NES) graphics. But that game is BOSS. Still one of the best JRPGs EVER to be released.

I think that years from now, when you look back, people will hold XBC in very high esteem because games that were great graphically, but meh gameplay wise wont look impressive anymore, while XBC will still be a great game.

Definitely. It's why games like FFVII, Mario 64, OoT etc. will be remembered long after games like COD have faded from memory...

Had no idea that it was still shipping! That is great, and goes with my 800,000 copy total.

The last story...I will trust you , but just do not see it. But good word of mouth in America could do the same thing.

The total opposite is what I expect with Pandoras Tower, and then reverse it again. I think that word of mouth from you guys is going to make it a good release over here, and then we will push the word of mouth on back. Out of all the games that came with Operation Rainfall, that is the one that I am most likely to play. It take less time from what I am told, and everyone is enjoying it more than The last story. The videos look a like a lot of fun as well!

So after all of this we have just said, what do you think about your title? Will the wii mark the end of expansive JRPS's?

TLS first week EU- 29,156

Xenoblade- 25,758

Pandora's Tower- 12,679

TLS 8-week total- 64,503 (3,609 this week)

Xenoblade- 81,077 (2,961 this week)

Both will end up at roughly the same when all is said and done. They're tracking very similarly.

As for Pandora's Tower, I wouldn't be so certain...word of mouth will always sell the game, but I don't think it's got the traction as TLS or Xenoblade has. 200-400k WW is most likely. But...we shall see!

For the title- I think that, no, it won't mark the end of traditional JRPG's, but it will certainly see a very heavy decrease in quality games like this one. We may also never see a game like this one on home consoles, either, which is very sad...

Check out for Mayday, I'm doing my next thread on it

Well...maybe not CoD, bit similar games. :)

Hey, a lot of people here, sadly, will not and likely never have played a game other than COD in their life. And as they sell so well, it's probably why this gen will be remembered. For HD, motion controls, expansion of the audience and the growth of FPS', thanks to COD.

People will remember the Call of Duty brand, but noone is going to go back and be like "AWWW YEEEAAAA SON!! MODERN WARFARE 1 IS STILL AWESOME!!!" They will play the newest CoD and move on.

I have no idea why a mayday is unless you are doing a James bond thread.

Mayday? It's the first Monday in May (so 7th May this year). It's one of 4 public holidays every year, excluding Christmas and Easter. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving. Just a normal day for us.

You have to ask if people are even aware of COD 1 and 2 really...

You could say the same for some Mario games, but it is the name or brand that everyone still knows.

So what? Mayday is a holiday that weeps some games? Or are you just doing a thread on it.

No, Mayday will be the day I put the thread up

And yes, everyone will remember the Mario brand, because it's been going for so long. It's also well-renowned as amongst the best series' of all time. COD, Battlefield etc. strike me as little more than a 'fad' which will be gone from the charts in 5 years.
