Forums - Gaming - E3 - Next Gen Announcements

I have been thinking that this is how things may pan out.

Microsoft and Sony will continue to be hush-hush about next gen consoles at this years E3. They will continue to deny products are close to release and a launch.

I think it is a strong possibility that they will both show new products at E3 2013 and release them in the fall or winter 2013.They will choose to do this as excitement will still be high from announcements, and not announcing new products will help to maintain sales of current gen consoles for another year. A 2013 launch for the next Sony console will be 7 years into the PS3 lifecycle and 8 years into the 360's.

How likely do you think this scenerio would be to play out?

wrong, wrong, WRONG, WRONG!!!!!, EHHAAA EEEEHHHHAAAAA!!!!

:)

They will all be shown/confirmed in some fashion this E3.

Wii U will full details of course.

neXtBox/PS4 could be full details less price/date to console on floor with nothing but videos and some highlighted features all set for full release of details at a later time.

Its too obvious... all companies are talking about the devices, even if in denial. All have had rumors of final specs/dev kits and behind the scenes discussions with 3rd parties. They are very far into final phases of design and all have games actively being created.

MSony will want to steal some of Nintendo's thunder...its just the nature of business and both don't want to be last in reveal/launch. Meaning they fear each other will probably do the same at E3 and out that fear will release their info.

I like what Superchunk said. There is no way that Microsoft and Sony are going to let Nitnendo have its way with E3 this year. They are showing something other than the next Kinect game or move games. Remember the Wii U will have about a year of free reign to do whatever it wants. They are not going to make it that easy on Nintendo.

But an official announcement would have a bad impact an the sales of Xbox360 and PS3. Nintendo made the Wii U presentation at E3 2011 one year in advance because they know that there will be not much games for Wii and they wanted the people to wait for Wii U and not buy a PS360.

E3's going to suck SPOILER ALERT

Ouch, I think my theory just had some holes shot into it (need to think things through a little bit before starting a thread I guess). Good points Superchunk....

I honestly, didn't take Nintendo into account as they have been seperate in so many ways this generation. As Nintendo appears to be trying to correct this next gen MSony will prob be looking to take some of their momentum away.

I do still like the idea of a small launch window and capitalizing on excitement, and they could in effect do that by presenting partial information this year and a full unveiling next year.

THREAD CLOSED..... lol

Edit: That said if they do announce there may be an adverse impact on sales, would the loss in sales be worth taking the steam out of Ninty's announcements, or could the same effect be realized by continued  information leaks?

I believe Sony will announce a UMD Vita transfer device, and announce a bunch of games.

For their home console, I think they won't say anything until gamescom.

i think your right nothing from sony or MS will be shown this year if MS does expect mega bomb like GTA5 releasing next fall on the next box similar to what they did yrs ago with gta4

They'll tease about new technology but not officially announce the systems at this E3.

Code name : ORBIS

Code name: Whatever the nextbox is called (forgot the name)

They'll showcase some future games how the graphics will look like or make a teaser trailer collection of videos.

Other than that, I dont see next gen being showcase anymore than that this E3 (if I am wrong, cant wait to see ;p).

Oh, I was just thinking by the way.

Orbis. There's an orb at the end of the move controller...

There won't be a drastic adverse attack on sales of new hardware.

1) they will have a solid sale during holiday to promote teh product if not a full price drop.

2) people wanting hardware now, this far into the gen are buying because of the lower prices or replacing defunct units. These people are not going to hold out for a new $400-$500 console coming in 1.5 years or so.

All you have to do is look to see what Nintendo/Sony did in E3 2005 when they new 360 was being detailed.... a full year before they launched their own products. Hint: They showed videos and more than likely empty consoles... in fact I remember Nintendo getting blasted as the wii box was a shel and the hardware was actually in a PC below the table. lol.

Lol

Just noticed that too , maybe it will play a major role similar to Kinect will in the nextbox.

Gee, I hope not.

Rather, I was thinking a ball controller mite be cool.
