I watched Iron Men 3 last night with my friends. I liked it, but not loved it. My other friends loved it some how and only one of my hated it.

Oh for those who are planning on staying for the after credits. If your thinking this would lead up to another movie then just leave nothing important will happen. Its just to troll the after credit crowed. Ironic since it was the original iron man that started it.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

I just watched The right stuff. It was still on my to watch list from the top 50 thread and it did not disappoint.
Great storytelling with plenty of great characters who all managed to stay interesting for 3 hours and 15 minutes. I knew of Chuck Yeager from 1991's Chuck Yeager's air combat, didn't know he was the first to break the sound barrier. And it was fascinating to watch the American side of the space race. The general feeling in the movie is, second doesn't count, which is sort of true as I know about Sputnik, Gagarin and have heard of Titov, yet couldn't tell you any names of the first Americans in space.

It's been a while since I bought a movie on dvd, but I think it's the better medium for this one. It had a great sense of nostalgia although it's the first time I have seen it. It would have looked too fake on blu-ray, on dvd the slightly damaged print merged perfectly with the old actual footage. (I guess I learned my lesson from Willow, some movies do get worse with better resolution)

I am curious now how the Russian space program came about. I wonder if they made a movie about it...
There is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKs6ikmrLgg First Orbit 2011 documentary. 5.0 on imdb from 21 users, that must a record, ignored completely... Now I'm curious.

I still wouldn't mind having it on Blu-ray as long as it has more special features as the two disc special edition I have.

The latest rumor is November for the blu-ray version. No details yet and it has been postponed before. (before it was May 2011)
I didn't want to wait for that. Extra documentaries of the space program and actual Mercury 7 would be great though.

I finished watching the 2013 Africa documentary, it was great throughout with some nice extras as well. Together with frozen planet this is their best work yet.

And I discovered Continuum on my pvr. I had forgotten about it, but that trusty old thing still remembered it and had started recording the 2nd season. The season 2 premiere was all right with some nice special effects. The series still suffers from not having any real likeable characters though. Their solution to promote 'grey' decisions is by making everyone do bad things.

Is anyone watching Defiance? I saw a bit of an episode once, thought it was terrible. However the commercials during Continuum made it look a lot more interesting. Is it any good?

Saw Evil Dead last night. Was better than I thought it would be.

I tried watching Defiance again, can't do it, Continuum is more interesting.
Favorite show atm is Grimm. (That's not saying much since I hardly watch tv anyway)

I'm currently watching Attenborough's Life stories on Blu-ray. Great to watch his passion about natural history film making, from the first nature documentary until today.

Will Twin Peaks ever be given the Blu-Ray treatment? *sigh*

Or The Wire, or Oz or Six Feet Under

Twin Peaks aired in 480i (standard definition) and 4:3 (full screen) putting it on Blu-Ray would be a waist of Blu-Ray discs.

So they didn't record it in better quality?

No idea but a lot of shows from the 90's and earlier where shot and recorded on pretty low quality equipment.
