Forums - Nintendo - Anyone else feel that Nintendo has next gen locked up?

Who do you predict will win next gen?

Nintendo 276 50.00%

Sony 130 23.55%

Microsoft 86 15.58%

Apple 23 4.17%

Sega 36 6.52%

Total:551

Depends on how the market reacts to the Wii U. What made the Wii so cool in the first place was it's unique controller, but now Nintendo just looks like a follower behind the shadow of Apple. Not to mention the PS3 and 360 still prove to be relevant on the market and a price cut on the 360 is something MS can afford to do and will do to keep up with Nintendo. Not to mention the handhelds don't exactly give me much faith in the success of new consoles.

Not really. The more we hear about the Wii U being on par with current generation consoles, the more I can see third parties treating it exactly as they did the Wii. More problematically, the tablet controller seems more like an attempt to get on board with an existing fad than it does an attempt to do something new. If this is supposed to be Nintendo's answer to the iPad, then it is the same sort of answer that the Playstation Move was to the Wiimote: late and completely insufficient.

I pray that Sony and Microsoft go so far "advanced" next gen since that will give Nintendo an even better chance of winning.  One, the most powerful system never wins.  Two, their games would probably be 70 dollars instead of 60.  Nintendo games might go up to 60 while if Sony and Microsoft are so fucking advance that would mean 70 dollars right?  I also expect almost all third party companies to go out of business.  Activision will have to buy EA just to prevent the entire collapse of the third party game companies.

Why'd you even put Apple in there?

In case they release the Pippin 2.

LOL! 42'000 units? How pathetic! XD

Nintendo will probably be best selling, but that doesn't necessarily mean the best console. Nintendo used all their greatest IP's and made an excellent iteration on the Wii, they can't mimic the same games for the Wii U. I think Sony will be the best for hardcore gamers, and MS will shift their focus to the Casual audience. Nextbox sales will likely be more then PS4 sales, but PS4 will be the best console for gamers.

3DS will for sure outsell the PSV, better games, better price.

I think Nintendo has a very good chance but I wouldn't dare speculate on the outcome before seeing Microsoft and Sony's machines. Launching first can also be the death of a console look at DreamCast which was killed off in its prime because Sony launched shortly after cutting it down. DreamCast was an amazing piece of hardware it was largely pioneering online and the VMU made the console completely unique. Yet Sega failed.

If Microsoft released a 10x the power nextbox with Kinect 2.0 and a tablet controller a year later at only 50-100$ more I could see MS cutting WiiU down. Considering how both PS3 and 360 made massive strides towards the end of the generation lead me to believe that even the slightest mistake on Nintendo's side could ruin any chance of victory.

We will have to wait and see what Nintendo's competitors bring to the table!

Sega failed long before the Dreamcast.  They just didn't have enough cash reserves to keep the Dreamcast going.

Which Nintendo has billions, it should be no problem for Nintendo. Nintendo just needs to set a track and stay on it.
