Unsurprising considering the overall console industry trend over the least five years. Games from the forthcoming generation (excluding perhaps Wii U) probably will cost $69.99. Wouldn't surprise me at all. If that happens, the gradual shrinking of the market since 2009 will continue, because clearly the console manufacturers will have learned nothing.

My theory: The onle company that learned anything from the GCN/Xbox/PS2 era was Nintendo.  They decided to be the company that did anything and everything possible after the GameCube to buck trends and dismantle the traditional, dying model.  Microsoft and Sony are still following the traditional model, and thus, like the GameCube, they are going after a smaller and smaller piece of a shrinking pie.  The Playstation Move and the Kinect are relative failures in the grand scope of things, because unlike the Wii, they are purely optional peripherals.

Core Wii gamers no longer expect AAA Nintendo games to have dual analog and purely button-based control.  Much to the chagrin of Sony and Microsoft, Kinect and Move have done NOTHING to transition their core audience over to new control methods, because they still favor the old controller.  Thus, until they build Move and Kinect into their console without it being an option, they will continue to have a problem.  So, for all the negative talk about Nintendo, they are at least undeniable geniuses in this respect.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Sir Bedevere: What is that?
Brother Maynard: He must have died while carving it.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
