A reputation system is utterly pointless. Any time you invoke a reputation system, people with certain opinions begin to dominate the entire website. All it takes it two or three like minded fanboys to come on here, give each other positive reputation points, and give everyone who disagrees with them negative. Then you risk alienating the majority of people who may have eventually became a reg on the site. People can come on the site, say something as simple as "I like Nintendo" and get negative reputation for it, and assume that this means the site obviously isn't for them.

Reputation systems on every website have only brought about drama and made a few entitled people feel like they are in charge of the whole place. That's all it has ever done.

This forum is populated by too many people (not naming names) who, at least when it comes to talking about video games, are immature and would misuse a reputation system.

Though I can imagine an iPhone vs. Android vs. WP7 thread also leading to misuse of a reputation system. Come to think of it any thread about consumer electronic devices. Heck even a thread about AMD vs. Nvidia.

Reputation systems suck ass. Thank fuck we dont have one.

Vgchartz used to have VG$. We could've used that to donate to people to give them rep.

Yes, this is the exact problem with any reputation system. The mature people don't bother creating 27 different accounts and giving people they like credit, while doing the opposite for the people they don't like. So the site winds up being defined by a group of ultra-religious morons with a very distinct opinion, and everyone else becomes alienated. It would ruin the site for people who are already here, and for potential new comers.

Actually it was on my front page for some reason... I didn't bother checking the dates so now I feel pretty stupid for bumping it lol
