Mr Khan; I'm guessing that's from your fanfiction?

man-bear-pig; Nope, we won't hurt you. We might ask why you found it so terrible, but we don't expect everyone to like the show. Just like other things we like, we know the show isn't for everyone.

Bingo. My progress has been agonizingly slow.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I watched an episode of this earlier today, and I've got to say that it is probably one of the top 10 worst creations in the history of time. #imjustgivingmyopinionpleasedontshootme

Seriously though, no big deal. Can I ask which episode you watched and why you didn't like it exactly? Some episodes are better than others, so maybe you watched one of the less than stellar ones.

I'm not sure, it was kinda just on in the background whilst I was doing something else. It just seemed extremely mediocre to me. Also, I guess it just seemed wierd to me that a bunch of adult males watched this seemingly (to me) childish show, and i couldnt help but think that many of them were only pretending to like it to seem 'ironic' or something. Maybe I did just see a mediocre episode. Seeing your guys tolerance towards my dickish comment makes me feel like an asshole though...

It's just me who's a dick, I told you in the other thread that most bronies are remarkably openminded about this stuff, and they kind of have the "love and tolerate" mantra even towards those who dislike them.

I reiterate:  Only I'm the dick who has no patience for your attitude about it, only becuase it's clear you're only doing it to troll.  I used to think the same thing as you, even went so far as to call bronies pedos (old men watching a show about little girls doing little girl things), but times change, and you dumped me on my birthday, so I don't like you anymore.  Get out of my threeeead!

Have you posted what you've done so far online? I can't remember if you did or not.

Despite my lack of interest in fanfiction for ponies, I have been involved in fanfiction with other fandoms in the past and I know how much of a pain it can be to actually finish a project. I never expected it to be so much work. I have heard that it's easier if you have someone to help you along with the project. I've never worked with someone else on a story though, so I can't say for sure.

In my experience, when I have something on in the background and I'm doing something else, I end up not paying any attention to whatever is on in the background. Try watching this episode, and don't do anything else while you do. It's 22 minutes long, so it won't be too much time out of your day if you end up hating it. I'm sure other people would recommend different episodes, but I think this one is a pretty good starting point.

As for the idea of a bunch of guys watching what looks like a girly show... Part of the reason many of us are able to deal with people who don't want to have anything to do with the show so well is because they can't say anything to us that we haven't already said ourselves. Many bronies started out where you are now. I'm not saying that you'll become one, I'm just saying that we understand why you think that way.

And if you do give that episode a shot and you still don't like it, that's okay. But if it turns out that you do like it, congratulations! Now you have something else that you enjoy in life. And you can check out some of the cool fan made stuff; some of it is seriously impressive (read: Fighting is Magic).

I started out thinking, I'll watch one episode to see what the big deal is. I didnt hate it, and I wanted to find out what happened next, so I watched the next episode. Then I found myself enjoying it. Its the best cartoon since Spongebob. One of the reasons I watch it is becuase I like the personalities of the characters. And the scripting is great!

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

I think one of the best episodes to show someone who knows nothing about the show is the ones when one of them goes crazy and turns into a pycho like Party of One or Lesson Zero. It's what got me into it:

I thought about suggesting one of those, as they are some of my favourites. I actually got hooked after Dragonshy though, so maybe it just depends on the person.

Bridle Gossip is a good one I think, because while it's basically saying "Don't judge a book by its cover" it's also showing each character, rather than focusing on one. You get some silly humor, like Pinkie's song and what happens to each of the ponies. Then you have Zecora, who I think is a great character. And you don't really need to know the characters to get what's going on. It stands alone pretty well.

Also, while I know a lot of people seem to not like the first two parter, I think that's a good start to the show as well. I saw that first, and I was surprised by the tone. It was enough to keep me going until I did get hooked. I refused to admit that I liked Pinkie's song though.

I no nothing about this, but I assume this isnt really a kid show?

It's like Spongebob, The Powerpuff Girls, or Avatar: The Last Airbender. Intended for kids, but something that can be enjoyed by anyone. I won't say that you'll definitely like it, but if you do like cartoons (especially Powerpuff Girls, as you'll probably notice similarities between the two), it's worth a try.

That's true but since the barrier to entry is so high compared to other shows, when viewing this episode as a someone who isn't a fan it may still be precieved as only sunshine and rainbows. Even though the show technically is that we all know there is a lot more too it which is why I think episodes where the mass appeal humour is more prominent is a little better for newcomers to understand the appeal of the show. But it's like you said it's totally dependent upon the individual.
