Truly shocking and surprising news. Well, at least the papacy signed the fact that the earth was round in the 1990's so we still have that...

The Vatican accepted that the earth was round before Galileo was born. Galileo was a giant arrogant dick in expressing his views which is why at a certain point the church had to go after him. He embraced the Copernican model which wasn't exactly right and refuted Kepler's ellipses.

If they want to get married, let them. If they think God will punish them, then he will. Why stick you nose into EVERYTHING?

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

He only denounced it, he's not enforcing it because he doesnt have the right to do so.

It will be up to the individual to either follow him or whatever the religious doctorine the individual follows says (doesnt have to go both ways either).

Free Will ftw

Yes, but when your religous leader tells you to do something, you're more than likely going to follow. Free will sorta doesn't work when God is in the picture.

Glad this is pissing him off.

Some other Christian Churches that have allowed gay marriage, women priests, gay clergy and gay bishops have been losing members to Catholicism, and the Vatican has taken steps to facilitate their conversion.

Sounds corporate. Losing and gaining corporate share. Infact it is better than corporations as most places religious places pay no taxes.

But but but...you are trying to be reasonable.

Also they spend their entire lives making lives of gays/lesbians a living hell just so they don't end up in the imaginary hell.

Who gives an "f" about the pope and what he says, this shouldn't be news.

Really.....was that really necessary?

Just because a few individuals inside of a certain sect did terrible things in the past doesnt mean the entire sect should be held accountable nor should they be accused of doing similar things.

True believers or fans of an organization need to be its hardest critics. I am not a catholic but i am a spiritual person. The entire view on anything spiritual gets hurt when ever one of the sects comes out and says things that divides people, focuses on the negatives instead of spreading the message of love. Let god be the judge of things.

As someone said, "God himself, sir, does not propose to judge a man until his life is over. Why should you and I?".

Peace
