Forums - General - Is Game of Thrones REALLY as good as they say?

You must have a dirty mind, because the sex scenes seem to be all you are focusing on! What about the other 95% of the show, which is filled with interesting stories and epic action scenes??

I didn't really think there was a lot of sex stuff in the show, I thought that Spartacus had a lot more anyway. Sure the few scenes there are are pretty twisted, but that just makes the story more interesting!

Wish season 2 would get here already, I'm going through withdrawl! At least I got the new season of Spartacus to tide me over.

I found the GRR Martin books to be fairly crappy too (I got up to the point in book 3 when it got to this vomitous scene where it started describing an erect dwarf penis in detail before he was going to rape a 12 year old girl - this turned me off of not just the series, but the entire American fantasy genre.). No memorable characters, and the story seemed to rely on very forced tragedy and trashiness (like trying to be edgey with gratuitous pedophilia) in an attempt to keep it interesting for people who like that sort of stuff. Essentially, whenever something good happens to someone, it always means something terrible will soon happen to that character.

It's the fantasy genre's answer to Twilight.

lol! Get off your high horse, and you most likely misunderstood that scene...Way to take it out of context too.

Italics:

How can an answer come before the question?

You are saying that it is perfectly acceptable for a Dwarf to rape a young girl after the author describes his penis? I think it probably can go a little too far.

That doesn't actually happen...

Edit- possible spoilers: The dwarf in question is forced into a political marriage with a 13 year old and they never consummate the marriage. The original comment was neither accurate or in the correct context.

And the Twilight comparison... wtf?!

I would advise you to read the book first. It makes the show a LOT better. It stops being a flashy disguised porno and actually becomes a fascinating addition to the story.

I can't understand how anyone who hasn't read the book unserstands what is going on, and I am amazed that the majority of people who watch without reading are fans.

The TV series implements pretty much the entire book without any loss. I don't understand why you think you need the book to understand the story? My wife just finished the first book and is on the 2nd now. Her words are that the series is excellent, word for word.

no this series is amazinggg you a bad porno :( lol

You don't need it, but it gives you a better understanding to know more about the backstory and more details about the characters. And actually, the show changes a few things.

Seems like it only changes the ages for legal reasons in film.

Not just that. I'd mention a few things but they are fairly big plot elements. The show also skips a lot of scenes, small and some big scenes.

Well, either way I'm really enjoying the series.

I thought the entire series was fantastic, haven't heard anyone so far who really disliked it.

You're telling us that the show was referencing a game that came out after it originally aired on HBO?

Makes perfect sense!
