1 - N64

2 - PSP

1 - 360

2 - PC


Wow........ are you sure that a freind or family member were not sabotaging your NES?

I still have my NES (all be it, i have not booted it up in a long time, but it still worked fine last time i had it out about 6 years ago)

PS2's laser issue was a genuine headache for many people, particularly here in the UK.

The NES was a genuine headache for many aas well. Cartridge loader is a long punch line ig old school gamers, having to spend 5 mins to geta  game to work and blowing into the unit.

The PS3 lost 40% of Son'y market share as well as almost four billion dollars.It allowed both competitors to grow their market share which allowed Microsoft to solidify their place in the market. Yes, that is a staggering failure, one of the worst in the history of video games. Additionally, from a gaming perspective the PS3 is certainly inferior to its predecessor.

This gen is nopt close to over yet.................... At the end the market share wont be that far off....

 

PS3 pushed bluray into homes, it launched 1.5 years after its competitor and despite a poor launched has nearly caught it and WW been selling faster then iMS. Sorry its not a staggering failure. What happens one gen dopesn't always carry over to the next, see N64 or Dreamcast. They are different market shares..

 

Cannot compare ps2 to PS3, ps2 had no competition.


It will take nothing short of a miracle for Sony to end this generation down less than 30% in terms of market share and 50 million units short of the PS2. Bluray still sits at only 25% of disc sales. Additionally, Bluray's market is shrinking annually. For example, the week ending December 31, 2011 saw revenue fall 14.7% compared to the previous year (I'd find more current information but the site is horrendous):

Sony did not spend over four billion dollars to come in last place and lose a format war to the original DVD. The PS3 will never earn a profit and it allowed Microsoft to anchor itself in the console world. Microsoft lost nine billion dollars launching the Xbox brand (the only failure greater than the PS3) and a strong showing from Sony could have prevented another Xbox from being released. If this is not your definition of failure then I'm intrigued to see what is. Losing money, market share, developer support, aiding your competition and damaging your reputation are all failures.

He's only one person though, unless you want to play the morbidly-obese-card. I am talking about the plural.

Also, you can't use the "I said so" line in this argument, because my opinion is worth more than yours.

Words by which the entire internet community lives. More time is spent now trying to prove how others are wrong using one's opinions. The logic of everything is constantly ignored and even more so the artistry of things that being attacked or defended.

Most people I know have broken NES's so it seems to be common place. Additionally, I bought a PS2 in 2004 and sold it in 2008, never had so much as a single issue.

Blimey, i wasn't aware of the NES issues......... mind you, i was still a mere boy/early teen when i did the lions share of my gaming on the NES. (so the gaming wars didn't mean jack to me)

Most of my gaming was done on my 2600 & Amstrad CPC 464 in the 80's (plus tonnes of hours spent in the arcades playing the likes of Street Fighter, Outrun, Track & Field, Double Dragon, Golden Axe, Pac-Man, Final Fight & Chase HQ ect)

My NES personally worked great, but hey, i take the NES comment back.

All hail the 2600 & Master System then lol.

Quick question, what are your favorite 2600 and Master System games? Mine are Ms. Pac-Man and Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon's Trap.


I follow Sega religiously (have done for over 20 years now), so have better knowledge of their games/hardware ect.

 

I love Nintendo too of course, but overall i played my MasterSystem/Megadrives a lot more than my NES/SNES's.

With regards to the 2600/MasterSystem.......... the first game i ever played was Combat, i used to play it for hours on end with my older brother, so that game holds a special place in my heart.

other 2600 games i liked were Pole Position, Centipede, Pitfall, Donkey Kong and many more of course.

on the Master System my faves were Sonic 1 & 2, Shinobi, Rastan, Alex Kidd in miracle world, Wonderboy and again.... many more

It's Bwahaha, not BWhahaha.

And yes, the PS3 is a failure considering the PS2 had over 66% marketshare gen 6 and gen 7 went down to 33%, after fortunately not being completely abandoned by 3rd parties (as should have happened). The PS3 got lucky to get out of the battle with only a few scars, it should've been pounded to the ground had Nintendo actually supported even the most basic of HD graphics.

Even ignoring Nintendo and Sega (who's philosophy of consoles, I would much rather have seen victorious, and which was unfairly competed against with moneyhatting and loss-lead.) Sony's stated mission of taking over the living room, and disrupting PC gaming caused a migration of PC developers to consoles, which became even worse when MS entered to counter Sony.

Sony is the reason PC gaming isn't as great as it deserves to be, and that is unforgivable. Under Nintendo leadership, console and PC gaming were separate and both awesome. Under Sony, PC gaming is turning into a gaming ghetto and console gaming is trying to be hollywood. They ruined everything.


Sony never forced developers (except Guerilla Games) to dumb down and port their games, that was the decision of the publishers. Additionally, placing any blame on Sony for the effect Microsoft's Xbox has had on PC gaming is ludicrous.

Sony courted third parties since day one, they got a lot of western PC devs to make PS1 games, it was an effective strategy, that just happened to cause gaming to suck for me. If Sony never made a console, there would be no Xbox, and I would have preferred it that way, gaming went the wrong direction because Sony decided to make consoles.

So much twisted hate and logic for an electronics gaming device here it's scary.

It's pretty straight forward. My gaming habits suffered because of Sony entering gaming. Nothing twisted about that, that's just the way it is.
