Sony is the reason PC gaming isn't as great as it deserves to be, and that is unforgivable. Under Nintendo leadership, console and PC gaming were separate and both awesome. Under Sony, PC gaming is turning into a gaming ghetto and console gaming is trying to be hollywood. They ruined everything.


Sony never forced developers (except Guerilla Games) to dumb down and port their games, that was the decision of the publishers. Additionally, placing any blame on Sony for the effect Microsoft's Xbox has had on PC gaming is ludicrous.

Sony courted third parties since day one, they got a lot of western PC devs to make PS1 games, it was an effective strategy, that just happened to cause gaming to suck for me. If Sony never made a console, there would be no Xbox, and I would have preferred it that way, gaming went the wrong direction because Sony decided to make consoles.

More Old School gamers on PS3 then xbox. Xbox is infested with the 10-12 year old COD crowd.  PS3 is the old school console.

The PS3 lost 40% of Son'y market share as well as almost four billion dollars.It allowed both competitors to grow their market share which allowed Microsoft to solidify their place in the market. Yes, that is a staggering failure, one of the worst in the history of video games. Additionally, from a gaming perspective the PS3 is certainly inferior to its predecessor.

Modern consoles huh.......... complete garbage in the reliability department.

PS2 with it's crappy laser disc reader, and 360 with the RROD.

All hail the 2600's, NES's and Master Systems out there that are still working as good as the day they were created.

Also, my Dreamcast lasted 7 long years (and i kicked the tray door when it was open, causing it's premature demise) on the other hand i had 5 PS2's between late 2001 to April 2007.

The NES?!? You've got to be fucking kidding me! I've gone through six of the damn things. Never has there ever been a more unreliable pice of garbage. To put things into perspective, I've gone through:

1 - 2600

1 - Master System

2 - SNES

1 - SEGA CD

1 - N64

1 - PS1

2 - PSP

1 - 360

2 - PC

This gen is nopt close to over yet.................... At the end the market share wont be that far off....

 

PS3 pushed bluray into homes, it launched 1.5 years after its competitor and despite a poor launched has nearly caught it and WW been selling faster then iMS. Sorry its not a staggering failure. What happens one gen dopesn't always carry over to the next, see N64 or Dreamcast. They are different market shares..

 

Cannot compare ps2 to PS3, ps2 had no competition.

360 yes, PS3 and wii very reliable... PS2 was sold 150 million times and is over ten years old, who would have thunk some lasers would go.

 

The NEs was one of the most faulty consoles ever with its front loadfing drive that always broke., Not to mention how simnplistic those devices were compared to how powerfull consoles are now.
