But yes, Samba de Amigo, NiGHTS, Sega Tennis, Sonic Riders... The Wii is starting to look like it'll be a spiritual successor to both the Dreamcast and Gamecube. I'm sure there has been some interesting Sega/Nintendo discussions.

Who cares. SEGA is a software company. They make games for different platforms. It's not like people buy that game and expect only Wii games from them in the future.

What makes you think that this game will be better than Mario & Sonic? Oh right, it's got realistic looking characters. Must be better then.

Mario & Sonic is a good game, not a cheap cash in. Ok, no online. But that's about it.

@ Gamerace - Again, that strikes me as Nintendo doing Sega a favour more than the other way around

@GooseGaws - It's more than just forking over the character, Nintendo helped Sega make the game and gave them the Mario IP in a way that boosted this games sales phenomonally.

This is going to be one of Sega's highest selling games ever when all is said and done, and they owe Nintendo big time for it.

And they will be paid back.

That is true, but I think the benefit is not unilateral in that it is to Nintendo's benefit to have Mario featured in a (potentially) significant game that will definitely gather attention from a worldwide audience. They knew what they were doing by allowing this to happen.

True, but I don't think Mario really needs the recognition. Now on Sega's side, if this hugely selling multiplayer game can make Sonic characters as familliar and party oriented as Mario characters, that opens up a whole new world of Sonic and co games.

Sega gets not only a mega seller under their belt, but a gateway to all kinds of new games and increased interest in their current fair.

Sega really must be laughing their way to the bank on this one.
