Forums - Sales Discussion - PS Vita to be the number one selling console/handheld in the new gen

Very bold statement, but I don't think it will imo. Vita itself will be successful with software though.

Did we learn nothing with the PSP and DS?
The most affordable console always ends up selling the most. Nintendo would have to screw up really bad or Sony would have to have some genius marketing and tons of dev support for Vita to win this gen.

So sexy...

Monster Hunter and Resident Evil are firmly established on the 3DS.

Theatrhyhtm and Bravely Default indicate that Square Enix will support the 3DS at least as much as a FFX port suggests they'll support the Vita.

There is no reason to believe Call of Duty will be as big on the Vita as on the 360, especially when the PC and Wii incarnations of the game do modestly in comparison.

Gran Turismo was not that big a hit on the PSP, and there is little reason to believe a Vita version will do much better. And the game hasn't even been announced yet, so that will be late in the Vita's life.

Fifa was never that big on the PSP. Once again, why would things change?

The early reports of the 3DS causing headaches disappeared when people actually started playing the system. .

Games like Resident Evil: Revelations prove the 3DS has graphics comfortably ahead of what 7th gen handhelds can offer.

Vita ports are possible now. But what about in two years, when the consoles are all replaced? Suddenly, ports aren't very easy anymore.

Nintendo has done alright with new IPs on the 3DS. Pushmo was a major hit, and games like Steel Diver, Rolling Western, and Kid Icarus prove that they're willing to go in relatively new directions.

In short, I think you're completely wrong and your reasoning is unsound.

But it's nice to see you.

1. Vita sales were really good in the UK. Why? FIFA.

2. Not really. I would say the leap is like Gamecube compared to Wii.

Depends on if Nintendo manages to fuck up their 2D Mario, and pokemon, and Capcom fucks up Monster Hunter 4 all at once.

Otherwise this will most likely be a repeat of PS2 vs Xbox, Vita being Xbox.

If you count out third party bias out of the equation of course. And Vita using off the shelf parts that will come down in price quickly.

HUH? Peopel make like PSP bombed its near 80 million and still selling. It's a lotm more complicated then that, Sony has more software suppoirt day 1, and you know third paqrty exclusives are coming.

Your point is?

It's pretty clear... Sony got their foot in the door and established market share., and are much betetr positioned the long haul. The vita is also incredibly easy to work on for developers, and PSN integration will help move units.

Xbox was dev friendly too. I don't see much that contradicts what I said in my first post. Except for Vita being in a good position.

Think of Xbox as the PSP.
The Xbox 360 as the Vita.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

All I really gotta say to the haters, this will be bigger. Word of mouth is HUGE when it comes to these things... I was the first of my group of friends to buy it, them calling me a fool. Now 4 of them have already bought one after playing mine.

The Vita is here.

Oh, and as for COD, I've NEVER bought one, but this'll be the first for Vita.

The Halo francise is the most overrated bland game to ever hit the console market. It provides a bad name to all FPS that even showed effort at creating an original entertaining plot.

I probably have more ps3 games than you :/

1. If I remember the charts correctly, Uncharted outsold Fifa.

2. This is a matter of opinion, and I can't deliver a decisive argument one way or another.

You are absolutely right about word of mouth. I was the first to get the Vita in my family and friends and they ended up canceling their Vita pre-order from Best Buy/Gamestop after I gave them my honest opion about it.

I don't know how to respond to this.

I think I'll just leave it at this.
