Which system will get there first? The Wii or the PSP?

I am placing my money on the Wii doing it right before the PSP does.

I'm estimating Wii could hit 40m by Nov. 1st, 2008

last year, the PSP sold ~7.5m in Jan. through Oct. in 2007.

given that the PSP has increased in sales with the slim, i'm going to guess the PSP will hit it first because I don't think the Wii will sustain 2m a month because of supply issues.




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I have a better question which will hit 40 mil first PSP hardware or Software sold hehe :).

Strange comparison, the PSP isn't much used as a gaming machine. People buy it as a media player.

Well, if you go strictly based on what they sold last year, the Wii will be around 36m by the end of the year and the PSP will be around 41m, so for the Wii to beat the PSP there, it'll have to sell about 25% better in '08 then it did in '07 and the PSP will have to sell at least 10-15% worse then it did in '07.

It's a tough call to make, but if the Wii carries on the momentum gained last year with a strong lineup then it's definitely possible the Wii will be there first.
