Forums - Sony - A funny British man talks about PSVita

I did very much enjoy watching that review, humor to keep things fresh it didn't really feel like i was watching 45min video.

As for the Vita i have to wait a year to see if i get it. I got burnt when i bought the PSP on launch day for 400Aud

After watching the whole review, I think he makes the same mistake that most reviewers do by comparing it to things like Ipad and stuff like that. Though he does raise some excellent points e.g like price of memcards and price of games and random design choices, he doesn't acknowledge the fact that not everything is entirely Sony's fault, e.g £45 for Fifa Football.

Last, I'm getting annoyed by the idea that everyone thinks that Sony only ever copies people, from that review, it was difficult to differentiate his opinion of Sony and Gameloft. IMO, they are nowhere near the same category.

That's not even an opinion, that's a fact.

Well, as this is the internet and most sensationalistic of opinions suggest Sony never innovates, only copy (e.g in the video, he says Sony copies Nintendo and Apple and the only thing he seems to comment on them creating originally is the propriaty system and those comments were negative.) It's possible to argue I'm in the minority with that belief regardless of whether or not it's a fact.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Kinda disappointed with the PS Vita from this review.

There are many poor design choices, some of which are unfixable, especially the touch pad at the back and the propriety memory cards. What the hell were SONY thinking?

The memory cards pricing is appalling. The fact that some games MAY require it like it says on the back, makes it all the worse.

I think all retail games require it. I think there should be a memory card in the box, even if it is only 2gb, it will barely cost SONY anything.

Supposedly there's talk of some games having their own saving space, dunno how true that is.

What's wrong with the touchpad? Also the propriety mem and built in battery were likely choices made to discourage piracy through the same manner that psp was exploited.

@The memory talk.

It's easily my biggest gripe with the system. Not because of the price or the fact that I can't use it on any other device, but because a cartridge-based system requires it for save games especially after SONY said it wouldn't, initially. Then that some how all changed a short time before the Japan release. I know that not all games require it but with the original PSP you could play any game right away because it came with at least a 32MB memstick at launch.

That was supposed to be the case for all games originally. I still want to know why this was changed. Was it simply to insure memcard sales?

I'm gonna say yes.

After seeing the features offered by Vita, I've got to say, Sony have really dropped the ball on launch. For the price that they're wanting - around £225 altogether here in UK for the console with decently sized memory card, it's just ridiculous. The interface shown in the video is poor and that welcome park is either a one big troll, or a big disappointment, aiming at young adults my ass, that was aimed at children if anything.

Combination of that with poorly supported browser (Which will be probably better after a while), memory cards, overpriced software at the online shop - despite DD becoming more prominent, lack of much compelling software in the first place, I think I'll wait until it hits a considerably lower price point before making a purchase, will just continue to casually save towards a PS3 methinks. Although Vita may have been the first handheld to catch my attention for some time, I was left disappointed, especially after this video review which demo'd all the interface features and essentially given me a tour of combination of various other systems lumped into one.

Not sure I'd get it even for £150, even if it came with 8GB memory card (the different format is beyond annoying, and the fact that there is no internal memory is agitating), if anything a PS3 is a better investment right now more than ever, can be gotten for half the price used, with already a built up software base too.
