Forums - Sports - 2018 Major League Baseball!!!!~ You have what it takes? Cubs lose, Rockies move on in a game that went on till after midnight

Who will be World Series Champions?

Yankees 6 18.18%

Cubs 5 15.15%

Houston 8 24.24%

Rockies 0 0%

Boston 2 6.06%

Washington 0 0%

Dodgers 9 27.27%

Indians 2 6.06%

Arizona 0 0%

Twins 1 3.03%

Total:33

I don't get the set up of the lesser side (record wise) getting 2 home matches to start a series. I'd give advantage to better record and play first three there to start.

Ugh, as usual, yet another team rolls over and dies for the Cards in the playoffs, along with their typical luck. I would not be surprised if they waltz their way to yet another world series. *BARF*
Seriously, 3 errors by the Braves? And that infield fly rule call by the ump was ridiculous. That ball clearly landed in the outfield. I swear, the Cards are the anti-Cubs in terms of luck in the post season..

God I hate them.

I'm going to cling to this abberation as the reason we're on the verge of getting swept. Yup.

Even though we (Cincinnati) are in great shape with this scenario I still don't like the set up.

N.L. Wildcard: Cardinals @ Braves

The Cards are going to need some luck to beat Medlen.  His stats are crazy this year.

I'm pulling for the Cardinals, exclusively because you're a fan, but it really does seem like an uphill battle. Of course, it's just one game, so heavens knows anything can happen. I'm also seriously pulling for the Orioles, but Saunders v. Darvish isn't as favorable a matchup as I'd like.

Lol, yep.

It is going to be 2-2-1 in the future.  They could not get the schedule worked out to fit in an extra day of travel this year, but they still wanted the extra wild card.  We ended up with this goofy compromise.

The infield fly rule has nothing to do with where the ball lands.  Watch this for a good explaination of the rule.

Texas: where even the chokes are big.

Very big.  Right up there with the Braves and Red Sox down the stretch last year.

Also, the Cards managed to blow Game 1 just like they have all year. We have an awful record in 1-run games, and I put that on the bullpen. I feel like the Cards deep runs lately have been backed by new blood in the late innings. Wainwright in '06, Motte (new in the closer role) plus the guys from the trade (Jackson, Dotel, and Rzepczynski) in '11. Rosenthal looked electric out of the pen in the 9th of Game 2. I would like to see him in a big situation.

@ Noname

Sorriez... :(

Much appreciated! But no worries: it's been an awesome (and completely unexpected) season, so I'm not going to whine if the icing isn't as savory as the cake!

This also lightens my mood considerably. I wouldn't be as chipper if the Rangers stayed in longer than we did!

Anyhow, fingers crossed for tonight. Anderson's back, I'll be at the Coliseum in a few hours, and it's not like we were getting blown out, so hope springs eternal still!

And this is why hope really is the ultimate evil...
