Using stem cells? When will we ever have a large supply of stem cells?

A sad day for humanity indeed.

As a vegetarian I am all for this and hopes it becomes successful as soon as possible for the sake of animals.

I didn't know the Dutch watched Better Off Ted!

I thought Mac Donalds burgers were already lab grown.

Good for hamburgers, minced meat, sausages etc.
But don't worry, animals will still be killed. I doubt a lab grown T-bone steak, ribs or a whole chicken will be possible for a while.

I wonder if their lab-grown hamburger is pulsating too!

Or if it tastes like despair...

This is very good news, wonder if they can make it taste good..

Funny thing, I have an encyclopedia only about the modern days and future stuff, back from the 70's, and there's an article where some dudes are dead sure by 2000 we'd all live on crude oil beefs. They even talked about the difficulties of creating flavour, almost exactly like in the article some 38 years later, pointing out they'd soon figure out how to properly mimic the taste. A few pages later would have you to believe the Apple II would release with Siri version Infinity.

I think a more natural solution will win in the end. I mean, artificial flavouring never quite hits the spot, since it'd be damn expensive to identify, synthetize and put to use all the thousands of distinct flavors - not even luxury fragrances industry gets that far.

What about growing worms who feed on feces and toxic waste but are totally healthy and protein-rich, and are genetically engineered to taske like pork or chiken? Still sounds crappy, but it's a puny brainless creature instead of the animals we enslaved and bred to satisfy our needs...right?
