Forums - Gaming - Bethesda: Skyrim DLC to follow different model to Fallout 3

Bethesda and Todd are so lovely. Todd often teases us with promises and hopes that never get fullfilled though.

Custom houses, what else cool stuff was in that video montage?

I would also like new land mass in a DLC. And something similar to The Wizards Tower for Oblivion.

See, this is DLC I can respect. They ship a highly complete, content-rich game, they wait awhile, and then they announce that, for a reasonable price, you get a large chunk of extra content.

By contrast, the Assassin's Creed: Battle of Forli DLC, which was quite clearly a level that was cut from the middle of the game, is exactly what pisses me off about this generation.

Bethesda, you have my respect.

You know that the AC2 devs said that they ran out of time and therefore cut this and another episode to get the game finished and ready to ship during the holiday season.
Without DLC, you'd have never the ability to play these episodes AT ALL. BONUS CONTENT are the key words.

if that is true , then why charge for it? , also if that is true then why release an Ass Creed game every year?

Probably because:

A) the publishers aren't so generous to let their developers do whatever they want to if they don't see any money behind said project.
B) MS and Sony get money for every traffic caused by a game or DLC, so making it free would actually cost them something. (I think every DLC was 1GB each !)

and

C) Assassin's Creed 2 came out 2 years after Assassin's Creed. They didn't have such problems with Brotherhood and Revelations I think.

It's developed and Published by Ubisoft , so how can one not be generous to themselves?

there is a lot of free DLC on consoles that came out from other developers , and if what you said is true, then why is this DLC not free on PC? with their DRM and all, they should been free atleast on PC

Also between AC and AC2 they released two games, Bloodlines and Chronicles, plus Revelations and Brotherhood both have DLC , and they released yearly, and if you count the spin offs , its actually two games a year even after AC II , and now they are going to release AC on 3DS , PSVita, Mobile and AC3 , plus they recently released one on Facebook , so that makes it a bagillion games in a year, breaking records in milking the crap out of a franchise.

Ubisoft Montreal is huge. You don't know how many of the ACII staff worked on Bloodlines.
Altairs Chronicles was not made by them at all btw.

Lots of free DLCs ? Dunno what you're talking about. Usually you get one tiny piece for free and you need to pay for the rest (1 car from a car pack in Forza for free or one costume for Bullet Witch etc.) The rest is mostly multiplayer focussed to not let the game die.

Atleast this gives them more time to get patches out. My save file is at 19mb and running into problems daily regarding FPS drops, freezing, mission bugs and just other bugs related to what NPC's are doing or lack of doing. Ran into a bug last night where it was saying dungeons i had cleared were not cleared and when i enterd the dungeon the map was not explored either.

Uhm dunno about the map thing, but do you know that enemies in dungeons respawn ?
How many hours did you put into Skyrim anyway ?

I know about the respawning, this was different.  The game acted as if i had never been in the dungeon before, happened on two different dungeons.  I'm at about 270hours, trying to get everything complete.  So having missions that i can't complete or having dungeons become uncleared is becoming bothersome.  It was a mission dungeon so i figure the game placed new items and reseted it aswell.

I hope they can give us something on the level of Tribunal/Bloodmoon

I wonder if they will do the nord infested Solsthiem isle again? Anyway I hope they go for a new reigon with a different asthetic, as varied as Skyrim was I want something totally different like Morrowind or something. I could see them doing something in Hammerfell specifically the area arround Dragonstar...
