Everything will be okay after the Vita price cut. Just like the 3DS.

The price certainly needs rectifying, but the difference is that 3DS benefited wonderfully with two blockbusters that have already cracked a million units in all three major markets (2m+ soon) and moved a lot of systems, and it'll have a new 2D Mario within the next year, not to mention the eventual new Pokemon; two more games guaranteed to do the same.  And even if Vita does manage to get Monster Hunter 4, 3DS will have it first, along with a commanding lead.

Handhelds are a much tougher sell than consoles as far as people owning more than one.  Vita not only has the challenge of convincing people there're enough games worth buying it for, but also that it's worth buying over a 3DS.  Frankly, it's not looking good for the foreseeable future...

Looks like Sony is livin la Vita loca!

I think it'll do well over in Europe and other territories because they're a bunch of Sony whores over there, but here in NA I think the Vita will be dead in the water within a year. I mean seriously, with all new consoles coming out within the next 2 years, who's going to buy this thing?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

The truth will be in the middle.

Lol.

OT: Well, didn't Ubisoft canned the 3DS version of AC? If this is indeed a trend, then there is nothing Sony can do to VITAlize it ;)

I wouldn't say that this is true (in regards to your last paragraph). Historically there hasn't been more than one handheld worth owning up until the time of DS vs PSP, and PSP had its own issues on the front of multi-handheld ownership (namely that you could get much the the PSP experience on the PS2/3)

Conceivably, there's nothing halting multiplatform ownership if we're in an environment where both platforms get compelling, unique experiences, as what occurs regularly in the console market.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

While I could be wrong, I wouldn't be surprised if third party publishers were trying to pressure Sony into cutting the price of the PS-Vita to spur sales ... I wouldn't expect many of their teams to have abandoned the PS-Vita yet, and their work on the 3DS at this point in time would mostly be theoritical, but they may have already communicated an intent to switch the platform of these games if Sony doesn't act quickly to spur sales in Japan.

This could be the case, but Sony's potentially stuck on that one. They have, what, a 2 year target for Vita profitability as it is? And with their financials, they need to minimize red ink as much as they can.
