Forums - Gaming - Report: THQ shutting down Japanese office

GAME Watch is reporting that THQ will shut down its Japanese publishing operation on February 29. The article notes that it is as yet undetermined who will provide ongoing support for existing THQ titles, and whether the company has found a new publishing partner for the region. This puts the status of upcoming games including Darksiders 2 into question.

This is in line with a rumor that popped up in late January -- one to which THQ responded by saying "'closing' is not accurate."

They make toys. Toys are for babies. There are no babies on VGC.

What about Nintendopie? He is kinda like a baby. Maybe he cares...?

They had a Japanese office?

THQ are going down soon I think.

BAHAHAHA... oh, wait... sorry Ninpie :(

I care about THQ solely for their Metro franchise, but that's more than enough to keep my hopes up for their future. That game (only one out so far) is amazing!

Did Japan ever buy THQ Games?

They can always let Japanese companies publish their games.

Capcom has published GTA. Square Enix publishes Call of Duty.

If THQ plans on sticking around they might just let other publishers handle Japan.
