Forums - Nintendo - Pokemon Grey to be Officially Unveiled Next Month?

Kyurem is no new pokemon, its been in Black/White from the start as the third main legendary pokemon. Keldeo though is an event pokemon. In fact they have 2 others they have yet to unveil, Meloetta and Genesect.

Also why do people think they are going to release pokemon Grey for the DS? Releasing a pokemon game for the 3DS would be a priority for Nintendo at this point, because you KNOW that pokemon is a game that sells hardware. Also think about it carefully, normally Nintendo releases a third iteration of the 2 main generation games a year after they come out. In this case Nintendo didn't have any releases last year which means they are taking 2 years to develop the game. Why would an enhanced version of a game that already exists take them 2 years? The only explanation is because they are working with new hardware and are trying their best to utilise the full capabilities of the new hardware.

I doubt they would put it on the 3DS, they should, but they won't. It would for sure kill absolutely any other game that comes out for the 3DS (other than a Mario Title) this year, but who cares... right? ;P

But the 3DS is already established. It is not the wii U where everyone is worried that a big Nintendo game will instantly make 3rd Parties run for the hills because the Big Nintendo game is a beast. Pokemon has to come out eventually so why not Christmas? Just because 3rd parties cannot handle advertising a game for a Nintendo console does not mean that Nintendo should hold back games. Nintendo should work with them to show the games off, but definitely not sit on games like that. Plus that is what they are doing with the 3DS to help third parties. MGS 3D is coming to the demo's this week, plus there is trailers coming out on the 3DS so people actually know about these random games. Not all gamers sit on videogame sites all day getting all the news. Nintendo is doing their part. No need to hinder their great games. Just what I think about the situation, but I may be wrong.

Your not wrong, you're totally right. I never mentioned once that I don't want Nintendo to hold back on releasing their games. Never did I say that. If 3rd parties can not handle it then, it's true, they need to do something about it not Nintendo themselves. But still, Pokemon would demolish LM2 and KI:U's sales. Those are Nintendo games and even they would be demolished by Pokemon. I was meaning that Nintendo needs to space their games out more; they need a plan.

Great software increases the sales of other games, so the idea of one game killing others is flawed. Games that fail to sell usually kill themselves.

I can see that happening to some games but not all. A perfect example is when Pikmin was released right when SSBM was released. SSB toke all of the attention away from Pikmin and garnished most of the holiday sales that year.

Sure, if that helps you to sleep better at night, then by all means pretend that this is why Pikmin didn't sell more copies.

Well then why do you think it didn't sell well? Bad marketing? No one was interested?

I wouldn't doubt it at all, it's almost a certainty really.

It was a new IP in an unpopular genre on a platform that didn't sell that much. In all honesty, I'm surprised Pikmin did as well as it did: over 7% of GC owners got it, similar to Wii Party.

Because it's not exactly a game that is fun to watch others play and it isn't in a genre (console-style real time strategy) that could put up huge numbers to begin with. This means no matter what Nintendo does with this IP, three million copies is probably the absolute ceiling in the current market (meaning Japan, North America, Europe and Australia). Nintendo can include full fledged co-op for the story mode (offline and online) and add lots of stuff and content, it still won't get past three million.

The first two Pikmin games didn't sell bad, they actually did well for what they are. If Pikmin 3 manages to sell two million copies, you can already be very happy about it. This IP doesn't have mass appeal and it never will.

Makes sense. It is a more niche genre for the console gamers. And besides, 3 Million isn't that bad. I would suspect Pikmin 3 to do really good in sales though. (By really good I mean for the Pikmin Series.) I wouldn't be surprised if it did 3.5 Million.

That is actually an interesting idea.

I hope it's released on both the DS and 3DS. I don't have a 3DS yet and don't plan to get one until a redesign.
