As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I will likely be moving to UAE later this year. I will be bringing my PS3 and Wii with me.

I need to power cords for both devices however, I only buy OEM/Brand products and I can't find them here in the US.

1) Can anyone in UAE confirm that game shops do sell them there and for how much AED?

2) Is anyone in UK willing to purchase both and ship to me? I would pay you through paypal.

Also, I have researched a lot and in both cases all I need to do is replace the AC plug as PS3's internal power supply is universal and Wii's is built into the plug. I know that simply replacing the plug will allow both to work perfectly... aside from Wii's lack of region-free games of course.

So I get there is a distinct possibility that there are no or simply very little UAE users on VGC and therefore this thread was just missed. But, seriously, wtf you dirty British bastards. I swear I should walk across the pond a fuck your shit up!

You can buy a voltage converter for pretty cheap (like less than 10 bucks), just ask any video game store or electronics store when you get there

It should look like a plastic box about the size of your fist, rather heavy, and usually with on in-plug, and one out-cord

Yeah I think PS3s are universal, but it wouldn't hurt to make sure (the guy I bought mine from said it was ok but my PS3 is a PAL console). As for Wii (I have a US one), you're gonna need to plug your Wii power supply into your voltage converter (and the converter is plugged into the wall)

Don't you have any store in your area selling power converters? Buying two of those is much easier than getting power cords.

I know for a fact the PS3 has a universal power supply and the power supply on the Wii is part of its actual cord. Meaning that in both cases, all I need is a new power cord. The resulting power on both to reach the actual unit is the same due to the power supplies themselves. There are multiple places that confirm this including youtube videos.

I do thank you both for replying though. I just would rather buy the new power cord as it may be overall cheaper, maybe, but it will be the best result as that's how it would be sold in those regions out the box.

Buy it yourself from amazon.co.uk, don't depend on someone else.

Edit: And seems an easier solution for the ps3 cord is a plug converter.

I tried that (from uk amazon) and it said they wouldn't ship to me.

Also, while it may be easier from the standpoint of buying it locally, its worse considering that it adds additional component to the system. I generally stick with simplier setups.

I'm sorry I can't help you (American) but this has to be one of the best posts ever.

If the both systems include a universal power supply, walk into a RadioShack and purchase the plug adapter for the proper plug in the UAE.

If that's not good enough for you, if you're flying into the UAE, somewhere along the way inside the Duty Free Zone, will be a shop where you can purchase the proper AC plug for that location you've flown into.

If worse comes to worse, AC power cords should be available at any local electronics shop.

Can't you just buy a 2-pin to 3-pin adapter? I believe the PS3/Wii will be able to take input voltages ranging from 120-250V. When I went on holidays to US, I took all my handhelds, mobile phones with a 3-pin to 2-pin converter (cost approximately £1) and everything worked like a charm. UAE use similar voltages to the UK.

Just to make sure, read off of the power brick of your Wii/PS3 to check what kind of input voltages they can take, if it includes 220V in the region, then all you need is to be able to plug your system into the mains, which will require the above adapter I mentioned which you can probably find on ebay for $1 or 2.
