Forums - Sony - Can I buy Skyrim yet?

Does this issue also occur in the 360 version? I have it for ps3 (but haven't played it much yet) but I also own a 360 so...

There have been some cases, but they're in extremely small numbers and for very large save files (over 200+ hours, massive cluttered chests, people with huge quests lists open, etc.). The grand majority of 360 players don't suffer from the lag problem.

Don't get it for PS3, choose, if you can, another platform.

Wait for the 1.4 patch. Right now it's fairly stable but that patch is supposed to fix PS3 properly. I have the patch on PC and it seriously improved performance so clearly Beth have optimized the code a good deal further.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

May get it for 360. Wanted the trophies but what can you do. It's a shame that this game has these problems.

No dude don't buy Skyrim on PS3, me and my brother put more then 100 hours into the game and we got the platinum trophy for it. Our savefile was bigger then 16MB.

Whenever there was fighting going on my fps dropped literally below 1fps. Huge framerate problems, it takes forever to load and save with such a big savefile.

I got the Skyrim PC version, no I didnt pay for it, it was my right to get a playable version of this game. So now I play this game on 1080p @ Ultra on my 50" tv via my htpc.

wait you had a capable PC yet you brought the game on PS3? Why? what insanity drove you to make such a decision? The PC version was always going to be 10x better plus it was cheaper!

I say go for it. I have had no problems playing the PS3 version and I am well above the thresholds of save files that lestatdark describes.

But if you haven't played Oblivion you should buy that game instead beause it's even better and dirty cheap.

70 hours in, no major problems apart from little bits of stutter. A few of friends have played closer to 150 hours without any serious complaints apart from a few glitched quests

As for the PS3, wait a little bit! The 1.4 patch has only come to PC so far, so wait until it actually comes to PS3 before deciding what to do, as I am sure people will give feedback on whether it fixes things

As I said, it also depends on a lot of other factors. You could surpass that threshold quite fast (in a couple of hours) if you fill chests and barrels inside a house of yours with stuff or you could cross that threshold with only data of exploration and quests, which doesn't affect the memory leak problem as serverely as clutter do.

Yes. What's strange though is that my proportion of item gathering relative to quest data is higher than I imagine the typical Skyrim player that gets memory leak lag has.

Just buy it for the PC when the Game of the Year edition is released. It'll be cheaper, include all the DLC, and by then the modders would have coded all sorts of glorious little add-ons for the game for you to embed into your copy. Not to mention that you might have a more powerful PC/upgrade to your existing PC to make it a smoother experience.

If you already have a copy, trade it in, swap with a friend, or put it up on EBay to buy something else with strong replay value to hold you over for a while if the wait is really that unbearable.
